  • Nationals' Brady Lindsly: Headed to minor-league camp

The Nationals reassigned Lindsly to minor-league camp Sunday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Lindsly was selected with the 123rd overall pick in the 2020 First-Year Player Draft by the Nationals. The 26-year-old spent time in both Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester in 2023. For Rochester, the catcher slashed .243/.309/.429 with four home runs across 82 plate appearances in 21 games.

  • Carter Bins C | PIT

Pirates' Carter Bins: Reassigned to minor-league camp

The Pirates reassigned Bins to minor-league camp Sunday.

Bins was reassigned to minor-league camp for the second straight spring. The catcher dealt with injuries throughout the 2023 season in the minors and had a few stints on the injured list.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Spring struggles continue

Fortes went 0-for-3 with an RBI in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies.

The 27-year-old catcher hasn't made much impact at the plate this spring, batting .118 (2-for-17) with zero extra-base hits, although he does have a 4:2 BB:K. Fortes is expected to split reps behind the plate with Christian Bethancourt this season, but neither is likely to be an appealing fantasy option.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Expected back in lineup Sunday

Moreno (back) is expected to return to the Diamondbacks' lineup Sunday against the Angels, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Moreno has been unavailable for a couple days with lower-back tightness but has evidently made enough progress that his return to action is imminent. The young catcher is 4-for-17 with one home run and a 2:3 K:BB over 20 plate appearances for Arizona this spring.

  • Marlins' Christian Bethancourt: Quiet spring at plate

Bethancourt went 0-for-3 in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.

The veteran catcher is expected to split work behind the plate with Nick Fortes this season for the Marlins, but Bethancourt has done little in camp to attract attention from fantasy GMs. He's batting .217 (5-for-23) through 10 games with a 1:7 BB:K, and a double stands as his only extra-base hit. Bethancourt has slugged exactly 11 homers each of the last two seasons, but his .239/.268/.395 slash line offers little appeal even as an endgame dart for those not wanting to invest heavily at catcher.

  • Phillies' Cam Gallagher: Scratched with bruised knee

Gallagher was scratched from the Phillies' lineup ahead of Saturday's spring training game versus Miami due to a right knee contusion.

Gallagher will presumably get a few days off as a result of his injured knee. The 31-year-old backstop entered camp looking to win a roster spot as J.T. Realmuto's backup, though Gallagher has gone just 2-for-13 across six games this spring.

  • Blake Sabol C | BOS

Giants' Blake Sabol: Beginning baseball activities

Sabol (groin) will begin baseball activities and a running progression Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Sabol suffered a right adductor strain earlier this month but has been cleared to being ramping things back up. A timeline for his return to game action isn't clear, but it would seem a stint on the injured list to start the season could be in the cards.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Starting activities soon

Bailey (hand) will begin light baseball activities in 1-2 days, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Bailey took a foul tip off his right hand during a Cactus League game Tuesday and has been resting while the swelling in his hand goes down. He should be ready to return to games by next week, and his availability for Opening Day doesn't seem to be in question.

  • Austin Wynns C | ATH

Reds' Austin Wynns: Dealing with sore shoulder

Wynns is battling shoulder soreness, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Wynns is still able to hit, but the shoulder injury has impacted his ability to play behind the dish. At the moment there is no telling how long Wynns will be out, but his injury could significantly harm his chances at making the Reds' Opening Day roster.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Dealing with back tightness

Moreno was scratched from Arizona's Cactus League lineup Thursday due to lower-back tightness, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Manager Torey Lovullo emphasized that Moreno's back is "nothing to be alarmed with," but the D-backs will act with caution nonetheless. Tucker Barnhart will enter to catch Thursday and Friday.
