Yan Gomes C | CHC
Cubs' Yan Gomes: Takes seat Sunday
Gomes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Gomes will rest after he was behind the dish for both of the past two days while going 2-for-7 with a double and a run scored. He's been part of more of a timeshare at catcher than anticipated early on this season, with Gomes making five starts to Miguel Amaya's four through the Cubs' first nine games.

Diego Cartaya C | SF
Dodgers' Diego Cartaya: Healthy, productive at Double-A
Cartaya (back) went 3-for-7 with a double, two walks, two runs and two RBI while starting in both of Double-A Tulsa's first two games of the season.
Cartaya attended spring training with the big club, but he didn't appear in any Cactus League games while he contended with a back injury early in camp before he was optioned to the minors March 3. The young backstop's ability to play in both of Tulsa's first two games suggests the back issue is behind him at this point. Of the four catchers on the Dodgers' 40-man roster, Cartaya sits fourth on the organizational depth chart behind Will Smith, Austin Barnes and Hunter Feduccia, with the latter having opened the season as Triple-A Oklahoma City's top backstop.

Tyler Stephenson C | CIN
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Resting Sunday
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Stephenson is on the bench for the series finale after he caught all nine innings of Saturday's 9-6 win while going 1-for-3 with a walk. Luke Maile will catch for starting pitcher Andrew Abbott on Sunday.

Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Gets rest day
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Ruiz will get a breather for the day game after he was behind the dish for both of the past two contests while going 0-for-8 with a strikeout. Riley Adams will draw the start at catcher and form a battery with pitcher MacKenzie Gore.

Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Retreats to bench
D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Arizona.
He'll be getting a routine maintenance day after he was behind the dish for both of the first two games of the series with the Diamondbacks. Chadwick Tromp will spell d'Arnaud as Atlanta's catcher Sunday.
-
Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Takes seat Sunday
Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Moreno will rest for the afternoon game after he was behind the dish for both of the Diamondbacks' first two contests in Atlanta while going 1-for-9 with a walk and an RBI. Tucker Barnhart will handle catching duties in the series finale.

Willson Contreras C | BOS
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Sitting again Sunday
Contreras (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Contreras was initially in the lineup Saturday before being scratched as he continues to battle hand soreness after being hit by a pitch Wednesday, and he won't return to the starting nine for Sunday's series finale versus Miami. Ivan Herrera will receive another look behind the plate for St. Louis, but the Cardinals anticipate that Contreras will return to action at some point during the club's upcoming three-game series with the Phillies that begins Monday, per John Denton of MLB.com.

J.T. Realmuto C | PHI
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Provides offense in win
Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Nationals.
Realmuto came around to score Philadelphia's first run of the game on an Alec Bohm triple in the second inning before blasting a three-run shot in the next frame to extend the lead to four runs. It was the catcher's second long ball of the season, and he's tallied two hits in back-to-back contests. Furthermore, Realmuto has now hit safely in six straight after going 0-for-3 in the Phillies' first game of the season, raising his average to .333 in the process.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Pirates' Joey Bart: Homers on first swing with new team
Bart went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Orioles.
Incredibly, Bart went yard on his very first swing as a member of the Pirates -- his first home run in the big leagues since Sept. 10, 2022, as noted by Alex Stumpf of MLB.com. Bart, the second overall pick by the Giants in 2018, struggled to find his footing in parts of fours seasons in San Francisco, but he's getting a fresh start in Pittsburgh after being acquired via trade this week. He will play behind Henry Davis at the catcher position with Yasmani Grandal (foot) on the injured list and not close to a return.

Patrick Bailey C | CLE
Giants' Patrick Bailey: Resting Saturday
Bailey isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Patrick will get a breather Saturday after going 1-for-3 during Friday's win in the series opener. Tom Murphy will instead get the nod to start behind the plate and bat eighth.
