  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Taking Monday off

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

He'll be on the bench for the first contest of a three-game set versus his former team in what looks to be nothing more than a maintenance day. Garrett Stubbs will replace Realmuto as the Phillies' catcher, forming a battery with starting pitcher Matt Strahm.

  • Austin Wynns C | ATH

Giants' Austin Wynns: Moves off 40-man roster

The Giants designated Wynns for assignment Monday.

Wynns loses his roster spot to fellow catcher Joey Bart (back), who was reinstated from the injured list. The Giants will hope Wynns clears waivers and remains in the organization as a depth option behind the plate.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Giants' Joey Bart: Comes off IL

The Giants activated Bart (back) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Bart has been out nearly all season with a back injury but is ready to go after picking up three hits in seven at-bats over two rehab games. It's unclear if he'll immediately reclaim duties as the Giants' top catcher or if he'll share work at the position with Rule 5 pick Blake Sabol.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Collects RBI in first start

Alvarez went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Marlins.

Getting the start behind the plate and batting eighth, Alvarez got the Mets on the board in the second inning with a single that brought home Mark Canha, although he also struck out twice. Manager Buck Showalter has made it clear he prefers Tomas Nido's defense and game-calling at catcher to Alvarez's, but with the team's offense struggling early, the 21-year-old top prospect could find his way into the lineup frequently at either catcher or DH if he can make an impact with his bat.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Swipes bag in win

Herrera went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 11-6 win over the Dodgers.

Herrera, who made his third start in 10 games, got caught up in the Diamondbacks' aggressiveness on the base paths, as he had one of five successful thefts. He's not known for that behavior, and it was just Herrera's 10th steal over nine seasons in professional ball.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Homers, doubles in win

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Sunday's win over Washington.

Diaz ripped a 443-foot solo shot in the fourth inning before knocking an RBI double and scoring a run in the sixth. The 32-year-old catcher has five RBI on the year, with four coming in the last two days. He has three extra-base hits (one homer) with an .882 OPS through 34 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Ejected Sunday

Barnes was ejected from Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the fifth inning for arguing with the home plate umpire, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Barnes went 0-for-2 to begin Sunday's matchup and was tossed in the fifth inning since he wasn't happy with the strike zone while behind the plate. It seems unlikely that the ejection will result in further discipline, so the 33-year-old should remain available as the Dodgers' No. 2 catcher moving forward.

  • Blake Sabol C | BOS

Giants' Blake Sabol: Getting Sunday off

Sabol is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The lefty-hitting Sabol will check out of the lineup for the first time this season while southpaw Kris Bubic takes the bump for Kansas City. Sabol, who is likely to see most of his time at catcher rather than left field in the short term while both Joey Bart (back) and Roberto Perez (shoulder) are on the injured list, will be replaced behind the dish by Austin Wynns in the series finale.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Taking seat Sunday

Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

After catching in each of Arizona's last three games and going 4-for-12 with two doubles and two RBI, Moreno will get a breather for the series finale. Jose Herrera will handle catching duties in Moreno's stead.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Out of lineup Sunday

Smith is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Smith gets Sunday off with Austin Barnes getting the nod behind the plate. The fomer has been excellent in his first seven games of the year with three homers and a 1.269 OPS over 27 at-bats.
