  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Resting for matinee game

Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Diaz was behind the plate for three of the Rockies' last four games, so he'll be getting some routine maintenance for the matinee contest at Coors Field. Dom Nunez will start at catcher and bat eighth.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Remains out of lineup

McCann (back) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Giants, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

  • Tres Barrera C | WAS

Nationals' Tres Barrera: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Nationals' Riley Adams: Big game against former club

Adams went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 12-6 win over the Blue Jays.

Facing the organization that traded him, Adams put together a classic revenge game, launching a solo shot off Trent Thornton in the fourth inning before adding a two-run double in the eighth. It was by far the 25-year-old's best performance in the majors so far, and since joining the Nats at the end of July, Adams is slashing a surprising .304/.385/.609 through 11 contests with two homers and six RBI.

Mets' James McCann: Dealing with back spasms

McCann is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Giants due to back spasms, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Late scratch Tuesday

McCann was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Giants for unspecified reasons.

McCann was slated to start behind the plate, but he was excluded from the revised lineup released by the Mets shortly before first pitch. The 31-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the nature of his absence is revealed. Patrick Mazeika will catch for Marcus Stroman in San Francisco.

  • Austin Nola C | COL

Padres' Austin Nola: Day off Tuesday

Nola will sit Tuesday against the Rockies, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Nola barely has the edge in playing time over Victor Caratini behind the plate at the moment. Caratini gets the nod Tuesday for the second time in three games and the 10th time in the Padres' last 21 contests.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Heads to bench

D'Arnaud will sit Tuesday against the Marlins.

D'Arnaud sits for the third time in seven games since his return from a thumb injury. Stephen Vogt starts behind the plate in his absence.
