Grandal returns to the bench Tuesday with left-hander Jon Lester taking the mound for the Cubs, leaving the catching duties to Austin Barnes. Grandal is slashing only .156/.182/.313 in 66 plate appearances over his last 18 games.

Mesoraco started three of the last four games behind the plate, but he will not be back there Tuesday, as Kevin Plawecki gets the nod instead.

Realmuto (hand) is not in the lineup Tuesday for the second day in a row, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.
Realmuto will need at least two days to rest and recover after being struck by a foul ball Sunday. Bryan Holaday will get a second straight start behind the plate Tuesday in Realmuto's absence.

Cubs' Willson Contreras: Not in Monday's lineup
Contreras is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Contreras doubled Sunday and homered Saturday to pick up just his second and third extra-base hits since May 27, but manager Joe Maddon still decided to give his top backstop a break Monday. Chris Gimenez will get the start behind the plate in Contreras' place.

Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Dealing with sore wrist/hand
Realmuto is being held out Monday due to soreness in his wrist/hand area, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.
Realmuto was struck in the hand area by a foul ball during Sunday's contest, so he was held out of Monday's lineup in order to rest and recover. The report indicates Realmuto could get a couple days off, so while he does not appear to be dealing with anything serious, he could miss further action.

Realmuto is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.
Realmuto posted a robust 1.100 OPS over his last 13 games, but he will get a day off after starting nine games in a row, seven of which came behind the plate. Bryan Holaday will fill in at catcher Monday night.

Hedges (elbow) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Sunday and is catching and hitting eighth against the Giants.
Hedges hasn't played since April after being shut down with elbow tendinitis. He was hitting just .173/.235/.293 prior to the injury. Raffy Lopez was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Grandal has cooled off after a hot start, with his season line now sitting at .236/.327/.435. He's still made over two thirds of the starts behind the plate, however, as fellow catcher Austin Barnes has struggled to a .204/.343/.265 line on the year.
