Samuel Basallo C | BAL
Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Handed night off
Basallo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
After being lifted from Friday's 13-3 win over the Blue Jays due to right abdominal discomfort, Basallo was held out of the lineup for Saturday but came off the bench to make a pinch-hit appearance in Baltimore's 6-4 loss. He then returned to the lineup for Sunday's series finale, starting at catcher while going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the Orioles' 6-4 loss. The Orioles haven't provided any indication that Basallo suffered a setback during his return to the starting nine, so his absence Monday may just be maintenance-related. Baltimore will go with Sam Huff behind the plate and Gunnar Henderson at designated hitter in the series opener with Seattle.

Nick Fortes C | TB
Rays' Nick Fortes: Playing time picking up
Fortes will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Red Sox, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.
Fortes will stay in the starting nine for the fourth time in five games, with three of those starts having come against right-handed pitching. At least for the time being, Fortes appears to have moved out of the short side of a platoon at catcher and seems to have leapfrogged Hunter Feduccia on the depth chart.

Hunter Feduccia C | TB
Rays' Hunter Feduccia: Playing time trending down
Feduccia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.
Feduccia will be on the bench while the Red Sox send southpaw Connelly Early to the bump, but the left-handed-hitting catcher had been left out of the lineup in three of the previous four matchups versus right-handed pitchers. Rather than opting for a platoon at catcher, the Rays may be moving toward leaning more heavily on Nick Fortes behind the dish.

Austin Wells C | NYY
Yankees' Austin Wells: MRI returns negative
Wells' (headaches) MRI on Tuesday came back negative, per MLB.com.
Wells was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to cervical headaches. He'd already received a negative concussion test, and now an MRI has also returned clean. Wells isn't traveling with the team on its current road trip, and it remains to be seen if he'll need more than a minimum IL stay.

Dalton Rushing C | LAD
Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: Blasts homer in four-hit game
Rushing went 4-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Sunday's 13-5 loss to the Angels.
Rushing recorded a hit in each of his at-bats, highlighted by a three-run homer off Jose Soriano in the sixth inning. It marked Rushing's first long ball since April 20. Fueled by a huge April, the 25-year-old is slashing .287/.363/.564 with eight homers, four doubles, 21 RBI and 18 runs across 113 plate appearances. Playing time can be difficult to come by with Shohei Ohtani entrenched at designated hitter and Will Smith behind the plate, though Rushing could see increased opportunities if Smith's neck injury results in additional absences or a stint on the injured list.

Sebastian Rivero C | LAA
Angels' Sebastian Rivero: Monster performance in win
Rivero went 5-for-5 with a double, six RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 13-5 win over the Dodgers.
Rivero was unstoppable at the bottom of the Angels' lineup, logging career highs in both hits and RBI while serving as an instrumental piece in the club's offensive explosion. The performance comes as a surprise given that the 27-year-old entered Sunday hitting .133 with a .344 OPS and two RBI across 49 plate appearances. With Travis d'Arnaud (foot) shelved, Rivero has served as the primary backup to Logan O'Hoppe behind the plate, though the latter is hitting just .192 with a .548 OPS in 147 plate appearances.

Freddy Fermin C | SD
Padres' Freddy Fermin: Goes deep again in Sunday's loss
Fermin went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an RBI double in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Mets.
Fermin drove in all of the Padres' runs, highlighted by a two-run homer on a center-cut fastball from Sean Manaea in the fifth inning. The backstop has now homered in consecutive games after failing to go deep in his first 45 appearances of the season. Despite hitting a lowly .147 with a .488 OPS in 126 plate appearances, Fermin has continued to operate as San Diego's primary catcher, especially with Luis Campusano (toe) sidelined since May 7.

Brandon Valenzuela C | TOR
Blue Jays' Brandon Valenzuela: Smacks another homer
Valenzuela went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI during Toronto's 6-4 win over Baltimore on Sunday.
Valenzuela contributed to the Blue Jays' five-run sixth inning with an RBI groundout before giving his team an insurance run in the eighth with a solo homer. The rookie catcher has been scorching at the plate recently, having smacked three homers over his last four outings, and his eight long balls are second-most on the Blue Jays behind Kazuma Okamoto (13). Valenzuela is up to an .822 OPS with 16 RBI and 12 extra-base hits over 135 plate appearances this season. It remains to be seen whether he'll remain on the Blue Jays' 26-man roster once Alejandro Kirk (thumb) is cleared to return from the 60-day injured list.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Brewers' Gary Sanchez: Snaps homer drought Sunday
Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-4 victory against Colorado.
Sanchez homered for the first time since April 14, ending a lengthy power drought with a two-run shot in a seven-run sixth inning that broke the game open. The veteran catcher has been a mixed fantasy asset in 2026 with a dragging .206 average, but a .357 OBP alongside six homers and a .441 slugging percentage in 21 games demonstrates the production is still there when he gets going. Sunday is the kind of performance that serves as a reminder of his upside, and with the Brewers heading to face the Athletics next, he faces a soft matchup that could help him build on the momentum.

Rafael Marchan C | PHI
Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Mashes second homer
Marchan went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 9-4 win over the White Sox.
Marchan crushed a rare homer Sunday, his second of the season and the ninth of his career. The switch-hitting backstop's playing time as Philadelphia's backup catcher has been scarce in 2026, and he's slashing a pitiful .103/.141/.191 with six RBI, one walk and four runs scored across 71 plate appearances.
