  • Marlins' Jacob Stallings: On bench Sunday

Stallings is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Stallings will get a breather for the day game after catching in both of the Marlins' last two contests. Nick Fortes steps in for Stallings behind the plate.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Receives maintenance day

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Miami, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Austin Barnes will check in behind the dish while Smith rests after catching in both of the Dodgers' last two games. Smith has remained one of baseball's most productive offensive catchers thus far in August, batting .304 on the month with three home runs, 20 RBI, 14 runs and a stolen base in 20 games.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Snaps power drought in win

Haase went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three total RBI in an 11-2 win against Texas on Saturday.

Haase crushed a 428-foot homer to left field in the ninth inning to add to an already substantial Detroit lead. The slugger had gone 24 games since his last long ball, and he hit a paltry .185 while striking out 40 percent of the time during the drought. Haase slugged 22 homers over 98 games last season but is well below that pace with nine home runs through 85 contests in 2022.

  • Cardinals' Andrew Knizner: Homers in Saturday's win

    Knizner went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a hit-by-pitch in Saturday's 6-5 win over Atlanta.

Knizner has hit safely in five straight games, going 7-for-16 (.438) with a homer, three RBI, eight runs scored and a pair of doubles in that short but productive stretch. He accounted for the Cardinals' first two runs in this contest. The catcher has alternated starts with Yadier Molina over the last six games, which suggests Knizner may be forcing his way into a timeshare. He has a .231/.329/.302 slash line with two homers, 22 RBI, 23 runs scored and eight doubles through 229 plate appearances this year.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Not in Saturday's lineup

Hedges will sit Saturday against the Mariners.

Hedges has three hits over his last two games, equalling the number he managed over his previous 10 contests. Luke Maile will start behind the plate, catching for Zach Plesac.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Not starting Saturday

Trevino (foot) will sit Saturday against the Athletics.

Trevino left late in Friday's game after a pitch hit his foot. His X-rays were negative, but he'll rest for at least one game, with Kyle Higashioka taking over behind the plate.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Out of lineup

Raleigh will be on the bench Saturday against Cleveland.

Raleigh sits after starting four straight games, a stretch in which he went 0-for-13 at the plate. Curt Casali will start behind the plate Saturday.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Twins' Gary Sanchez: Retreats to bench Saturday

Sanchez isn't starting Saturday against the Giants.

Sanchez is getting a day off after he went 2-for-7 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBI over the last two games. Sandy Leon will take over behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Remains on bench

Narvaez isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Cubs.

Narvaez is on the bench for a third consecutive game since left-hander Drew Smyly is starting for the Cubs. Victor Caratini is starting behind the plate and batting seventh.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Out of lineup

McCann will not start Saturday's game against the Rockies.

McCann has now been on the bench for three of the last four games. With his .193/.246/.277 slash line, it's hard to argue he deserves more playing time. Tomas Nido will start behind the plate.
