The Phillies transferred Marchan's (hamstring) rehab assignment to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Marchan will get a stiffer test after he went 3-for-13 with two doubles, two walks and a run scored in the first four games of his rehab assignment at High-A Jersey Shore. The 23-year-old has been stuck on the 60-day injured list all season and may not overtake Garrett Stubbs as the Phillies' No. 2 catcher behind J.T. Realmuto whenever he's ultimately activated.

Jansen (hip) will start at catcher and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Jansen didn't play in Sunday's 11-10 win over the Angels due to a minor hip issue, but he's apparently feeling fine coming out of Monday's team off day. As the Blue Jays' top defensive catcher, Jansen should see a slightly larger share of the work behind the plate as the team begins a six-game homestand, though Alejandro Kirk will stick in the lineup Tuesday as Toronto's designated hitter.

Vazquez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Vazquez started at catcher in each of the Red Sox's last three games, so he's likely just receiving some routine maintenance Tuesday. Kevin Plawecki replaces him behind the dish, batting eighth in the lineup.

Cartaya was promoted to High-A Great Lakes on Tuesday, Great Lakes broadcaster Brad Tunney reports.

Cartaya is still a long way from the majors, but he's hit at every minor-league stop thus far in his career. In 33 games for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga this season, he homered nine times while slashing .260/.405/.550. A 27.0 percent strikeout rate is a minor worry and could potentially become a significant one if it continues to rise as he ascends the minor-league ladder, but his power has more than made up for his contact issues so far in his career.

Gallagher (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Gallagher has been out with a strained left hamstring since the start of May. Given the length of his absence, he may need more than just a game or two of rehab work before he's considered ready to return. He may not have a job to return to once healthy, as top catching prospect MJ Melendez joined the team in Gallagher's absence and is hitting .260/.329/.494 through 23 games.

Jeffers will be on the bench for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Jeffers has struggled to a .193/.285/.321 line on the season. Gary Sanchez starts behind the plate in the first game of the day, but Jeffers should return for the nightcap.

Heim went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 9-5 win over the Rays.

Heim extended the Rangers' lead to 5-1 with his third-inning homer. The catcher has gone yard twice in his last six games, a span in which he's hit .261 (6-for-23). He's shown a noticeable improvement this year, slashing a solid .267/.342/.486 with six long balls, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base through 117 plate appearances as the Rangers' primary catcher.

Garver (knee) went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base, a run scored and a walk in Monday's 9-5 win over the Rays.

Garver missed the last three games while battling left knee soreness. The 31-year-old has been solid since returning from an elbow injury in mid-May, going 9-for-30 (.300) in his last eight games. Overall, he's posted a .231/.309/.444 slash line with six home runs, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base through 30 contests. Garver should resume his role as the Rangers' primary designated hitter now that he's cleared of the minor knee injury.

Contreras went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in a 3-1 loss to the Brewers in the second game of Monday's doubleheader.

Contreras accounted for the Cubs' lone run in the fourth inning, taking Brewers starter Aaron Ashby deep. In the matinee, Contreras went 1-for-5 with a run scored as the designated hitter. The 30-year-old catcher has been solid in 2022 with a .264/.387/.486 slash line, seven homers, 16 RBI, 28 runs scored, a stolen base and eight doubles through 40 games.

Caratini went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 3-1 win over the Cubs in the second game of Monday's doubleheader.

Caratini saw out the matinee contest, but he was in the lineup for the nightcap. He delivered his second homer in his last two games and his third of the year to put the Brewers ahead 2-1 in the fifth inning. The 28-year-old catcher is up to a .207/.299/.379 slash line with seven RBI, five runs scored and a double in 67 plate appearances. With Omar Narvaez hitting well, Caratini is unlikely to see much more than a backup role.
