Contreras isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates due to wrist soreness, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Although Austin Romine is starting at catcher in Contreras' place Tuesday, the injury isn't considered serious. Manager David Ross said Tuesday that he's hopeful Contreras will be able to return to action Wednesday.

Contreras isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Contreras started the last two games for Chicago and went 3-for-8 with a double, two runs, two RBI and a walk during that time. Austin Romine will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

McCann will sit for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

McCann unsurprisingly won't be asked to start two games on one day. Tomas Nido starts the afternoon game, but McCann will likely catch for Noah Syndergaard in the nightcap.

Plawecki (foot) could be ready to play when the Red Sox open a series against the Orioles in Baltimore.

Plawecki was hit by a pitch on the right foot during Saturday's loss to the Yankees and was unavailable to play Sunday. X-rays came back negative, and the Red Sox are hopeful for a return during the Baltimore series.

Haase went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Monday's loss to the White Sox.

Haase has been struggling lately, as he came into Monday batting just .121 over his previous 10 contests. This was also his first multi-hit performance since Aug. 14. He's offset that to some degree with 22 home runs and 59 RBI this season, but Haase will need to prove his value again in 2022 given his limited MLB success before this year.

Grandal went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs and a walk in the win over the Tigers on Monday.

The catcher opened the scoring for the White Sox in this one, launching a solo homer off Matt Manning in the top of the fourth inning. He has now hit 23 home runs this season in only 88 games. The multi-hit effort was his third in four contests, and he's batting .500 with three runs and three RBI in those games.

Gomes will sit Monday against Seattle.

Gomes has been slightly ahead of Sean Murphy on the depth chart for much of September, but he's now been on the bench for four of Oakland's last six games. Murphy will catch Cole Irvin on Monday.

Perez was removed in the bottom of the eighth inning of Monday's game against Cleveland with an apparent injury, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports. He went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run before exiting.

An official reason for Perez's departure wasn't provided, but Worthy noted that the backstop was evaluated by trainers in the seventh inning after taking a foul ball off his mask. Perez stayed in the game and finished out the inning behind the plate before Cam Gallagher checked in for him to begin the bottom of the eighth. Kansas City may have just pulled Perez as a precaution, but manager Mike Matheny should provide more details on the star catcher's condition after the game.

Perez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Perez looks set to finish the season as the Pirates' No. 1 backstop while Jacob Stallings (concussion) remains on the 7-day injured list, but Taylor Davis will handle catching duties Monday while Perez gets a breather. Since Stallings was deactivated a week ago, Perez went 3-for-18 with two walks, three RBI and a run over five games.

Perez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

With Monday's make-up game beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET, Perez will get a breather for the day game after he was behind the dish for three of the team's past four contests. Austin Hedges checks in at catcher in place of Perez, who went 1-for-10 with a double and a run scored during Cleveland's weekend series with the White Sox.
