Jeffers (knee) will bat eighth and start behind the plate Tuesday against the Tigers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Jeffers was scratched Sunday with a bruised left knee, but he's ready to go following Monday's off day. He'll look to build on his performance over his last two games, when he went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a homers while scoring four runs.

Sanchez (abdomen) remains on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Sanchez hasn't played since Wednesday while dealing with abdominal tightness. He's evidently still not ready to go following Monday's scheduled off day, so Ryan Jeffers (knee) will start behind the plate.

Garver will be on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Garver and Jonah Heim have alternated starts behind the plate over the last eight games, though Garver has served as the designated hitter twice over that stretch. He'll get a true day off Tuesday, with Heim at catcher and Willie Calhoun taking the DH spot.

The Brewers recalled Jackson from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Jackson will step in as the Brewers' No. 2 catcher behind Omar Narvaez after top backup Victor Caratini was placed on the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move. The righty-hitting Caratini had been occupying the short side of a platoon with the lefty-hitting Narvaez, but it's not clear if the righty-hitting Jackson will be extended the same role or play only when Narvaez needs a breather behind the plate.

Kirk will sit Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Kirk finds himself sitting in favor of Zack Collins for the second time in three games. Kirk's .227/.327/.227 season slash line is poor, though he's at least seeing the ball well, striking out just four times to go along with seven walks. He's not hitting the ball with much authority, however, as his barrel rate has dropped from 11.0 percent last season to 2.4 percent this year. He's yet to record an extra-base hit.

The Brewers announced Tuesday that Caratini was placed on the COVID-19 injured list, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

As a result of Caratini either testing positive for the virus or being deemed a close contact of an infected person, the Brewers made their first roster move since Opening Day. In a corresponding transaction, Milwaukee recalled Alex Jackson from Triple-A Nashville to serve as the No. 2 catcher behind Omar Narvaez while Caratini is away from the team.

Trevino will be on the bench for Tuesday's game against Baltimore.

Trevino started just three of the Yankees' first 12 games, but he appeared to be moving into the starting role due to Kyle Higashioka's underperformance, getting the nod in three of the next four contests. Higashioka will get the call Tuesday, so it may still take some more time to figure out which backstop is the preferred option.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Smith produced the lone long ball of the contest, taking Tyler Gilbert deep to left field in the eighth inning for his second homer of the campaign. The backstop finished with his second multi-hit effort of the season and first since April 14. Smith had been struggling coming into the contest, going just 1-for-10 over his previous four games.

Vazquez isn't starting Monday against the Blue Jays.

Vazquez started in the last four games and went 2-for-13 with an RBI and three strikeouts. Kevin Plawecki will start behind the dish after being reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list.

Wong was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.

Wong appeared in two games during his time with the major-league club, and he went 1-for-6 with an RBI and a strikeout. Kevin Plawecki will serve as the primary backup behind the dish after he was activated from the COVID-19 injured list.
