Fermin is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

Fermin will take a seat for the series opener versus Pittsburgh after he had started in each of the Royals' last five games, catching in four of them. Salvador Perez will get a turn behind the plate Monday while Mark Canha enters the lineup as Kansas City's designated hitter.

High-A Quad Cities reinstated Mitchell (wrist) from the 7-day injured list Monday.

Mitchell has been cleared to make his 2025 debut in the Midwest League after he broke his right wrist in late February and required surgery, which kept him on the shelf for the first three months of the season. The catching prospect received the green light to join Quad Cities after he slashed .286/.487/.464 with one home run and three stolen bases in 39 plate appearances during his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

The backstop was the only Atlanta hitter to have much success against Trevor Rogers and the Baltimore bullpen, accounting for his team's only extra-base hits and its only run with his ninth-inning shot off Seranthony Dominguez. Murphy has gone yard four times in his last seven games, batting .318 (7-for-22) over that impressive span with two doubles and nine RBI. As a result, the playing-time split between him and rookie Drake Baldwin may be tipping Murphy's way heading toward the All-Star break.

McGuire went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI in Sunday's 11-0 win over the Cardinals

McGuire picked up a start in place of Carson Kelly in the series finale, and the former delivered his first multi-hit performance since June 10. While McGuire is batting just .237 with a .262 on-base percentage, he has provided some degree of fantasy utility by tallying five home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in only 18 games so far this season, though his ceiling is certainly limited due to his backup role. The veteran catcher is best viewed as a DFS dart throw on days when he's in the lineup.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Sunday that Sanchez has been diagnosed with a moderate PCL sprain in his right knee, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mansolino didn't offer up a timeline for Sanchez's return from the 10-day injured list, but given that his knee sprain isn't viewed as mild, the 33-year-old backstop seems unlikely to be ready to play when he's first eligible for activation at the start of the second half. Sanchez became the fourth Orioles catcher to hit the IL, joining Adley Rutschman (oblique), Maverick Handley (concussion) and Chadwick Tromp (back). None of the injured backstops have resumed baseball activities, so Jacob Stallings and the newly acquired Alex Jackson appear poised to serve as Baltimore's catching tandem though at least the All-Star break.

Brantly (lat/knee) was cleared to resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Brantly didn't end up playing Sunday after Jacksonville's game against Charlotte was rained out, but the veteran catcher seems to be healthy again after left knee inflammation caused him to be pulled off his previous assignment with the Triple-A club about three weeks ago. The 35-year-old was initially placed on the injured list April 21 due to a right lat strain, though that injury no longer appears to be much of a concern. Once he completes his rehab assignment, Brantly could be activated from the 60-day IL and designated for assignment, as the Marlins are already carrying three catchers (Agustin Ramirez, Nick Fortes and Liam Hicks) on the 26-man active roster and wouldn't appear to have room for him.

Wells went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Mets.

Wells got the scoring started with a solo blast in the third inning and then drove in another run on a groundout in the fourth. The catcher has now hit safely in eight of his past 11 games, highlighted by the two home runs he hit over the weekend. For the year, he's slashing .220/.280/.448 with 13 homers, 48 RBI, 28 runs scored and three steals across 271 plate appearances.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Moreno (finger) has resumed running on the bases and working on receiving, MLB.com reports.

Lovullo noted that Moreno hasn't yet been cleared to use his dominant hand after suffering a hairline fracture to his pointer finger back on June 6, so until the catcher is cleared to start throwing and hitting, his return from the 10-day injured list shouldn't be viewed as imminent. Moreno appears likely to remain out until around late July, leaving Jose Herrera and James McCann to handle catching duties for Arizona over the next few weeks.

The Tigers promoted Briceno from High-A West Michigan to Double-A Erie on Sunday.

Briceno will move on to Erie after he slashed .296/.422/.602 with 15 home runs and one stolen base over 55 games with West Michigan. The Tigers are continuing to develop the 20-year-old as a catcher, though he also made 22 starts at first base during his time at High-A.

Perez went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a hit-by-pitch in Sunday's 4-0 win against the Diamondbacks.

The 35-year-old reached double-digit homers for the 13th consecutive season when he slugged a 415-foot solo shot off Arizona starter Anthony DeSclafani in the fourth. The long ball snapped an 11-game homerless draught over which Perez hit .227 (10-for-44) with eight RBI and no runs scored. Through 358 total plate appearances, the veteran is slashing .235/.277/.393 with 50 RBI and 20 runs scored in 86 games.
