  • Austin Nola C | COL

Padres' Austin Nola: Sits again Saturday

Nola will remain on the bench for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Nola finds himself on the bench for the second game in a row. He's spent much of the season battling injuries and owns a modest .656 OPS in 74 plate appearances when available, though his 10:6 BB:K gives some reason for optimism. Victor Caratini will catch Yu Darvish in his absence.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Not starting Saturday

Garver isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals.

Garver returned to action Friday and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Ryan Jeffers will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Returns to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Wong to Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Wong was the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader and stuck around for a couple more days, getting two plate appearances in Thursday's blowout loss. The rookie has appeared in five big-league games this season, going 3-for-12 with a walk and seven strikeouts.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Retreats to bench

Collins isn't starting Saturday's game against Cleveland.

Collins will be on the bench for the third time in the last four games, as he may have lost the starting job behind the plate to Seby Zavala. Zavala will start at catcher and bat ninth.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: On bench Saturday

Stassi will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Oakland.

Stassi is riding a five-game hitting streak, a stretch in which he's homered twice and driven in five runs. Kurt Suzuki starts behind the plate in his absence.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Homers in third straight

Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays.

He took Ross Stripling deep in the sixth inning, getting the Royals to within a run at 3-2, but it was as close as they got to tying things up. Perez has gone yard in three straight games and five times in the last seven, boosting his homer total on the season to 26 -- one short of his career high -- and fueling a .314/.364/.647 slash line since the All-Star break.

  • Alex Jackson C | MIN

Marlins' Alex Jackson: Joining major-league club

Jackson will join the major-league club once he arrives in Miami, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Jackson was traded from Atlanta to Miami on Friday in exchange for Adam Duvall, and he should serve as depth behind the plate. The 25-year-old has appeared in 19 major-league games across the last three seasons, and he's hit .070 with a double, two runs and 22 strikeouts.

  • Austin Nola C | COL

Padres' Austin Nola: Not starting Friday

Nola isn't starting Friday's game against the Rockies.

Nola drew starts in each of the last two games and went 2-for-7 with a double, an RBI and a strikeout. Victor Caratini will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

  • Chad Wallach C | ATH

Marlins' Chad Wallach: Claimed by Dodgers

Wallach was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Wallach gives the Dodgers an extra catcher on the 40-man roster after Keibert Ruiz was traded to the Nationals. He's unlikely to play a significant big-league role unless Will Smith or Austin Barnes get injured.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Returns to lineup

Garver (hand) will catch and bat cleanup Friday against the Cardinals.

Garver was hit by a pitch Tuesday against the Tigers and did not take part in Wednesday's contest. His X-rays were negative, however, so it's no surprise to see him back in action following a brief absence.
