    Bailey will take a seat after he went 1-for-8 with a double, a run scored and five strikeouts over the first two games of the team's series with the A's. Andrew Knizner will draw the start behind the plate and bat ninth in the series finale.

    Kelly is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

    Reese McGuire will step in behind the plate while Kelly rests after starting in five of the previous six games. After falling into a 4-for-44 rut at the plate over a three-week stretch from late May to mid-June, Kelly has heated back up, slashing .389/.452/.694 with two home runs, seven RBI and six runs over his last 11 games.

    Fermin will start at catcher and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

    Fermin's playing time is back on the rise again, as he'll be getting his fifth consecutive start Sunday. Four of those starts have come behind the dish, as the Royals have been using top backstop Salvador Perez at designated hitter and first base more frequently in an effort to keep him fresh. Fermin is batting .275 over 167 plate appearances on the season but doesn't bring much power (two home runs) or speed (zero steals) to the table.

    Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

    Smith will take a seat for the series finale after he started behind the plate Friday and Saturday. Dalton Rushing will get the nod at catcher Sunday.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Exiting starting nine

    Caratini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

    With Yainer Diaz starting behind the plate and Isaac Paredes serving as the designated hitter, the Astros won't have room in the lineup for Caratini in the series finale. Caratini had started in each of the previous three games, going 4-for-13 with a home run, two doubles, five RBI and an additional run.

    Bart will receive a breather after he started at catcher in the first two contests of the series while going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts. Henry Davis will replace Bart behind the plate Sunday.

    Goodman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

    The 26-year-old will take a seat for the series finale while Austin Nola receives a turn behind the plate. Goodman had started at catcher in the previous two contests, going 1-for-9 with a double and a run.

    Teel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

    Teel will rest for Sunday's day game after he went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run while catching all nine innings of Saturday's 10-3 win. Edgar Quero will spell Teel behind the plate.

    Jeffers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

    Christian Vazquez will handle catching duties for Minnesota while Jeffers receives a breather after starting the previous two contests. After going 0-for-18 in his previous six games, Jeffers broke out of his slump Saturday with three base hits.

    Rays' Danny Jansen: Getting Sunday off

    Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

    Jansen will receive a routine breather Sunday after he had started behind the plate in the first two games of the series. Matt Thaiss will replace Jansen as the Rays' starting catcher.
