The Red Sox are expected to place Plawecki (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game in Tampa Bay, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Boston evidently determined that the left hamstring injury Plawecki sustained in Sunday's game against the Royals was more than a day-to-day concern, so he'll be shut down for at least a week and a half while he heals up. Connor Wong will be promoted from Triple-A Worcester to take Plawecki's spot on the active roster and serve as the No. 2 catcher behind top backstop Christian Vazquez.

Murphy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a loss to the Rangers on Monday.

The young backstop's 387-foot shot to left finally got the Athletics on the board in the fifth inning. Murphy is in the midst of one of his strongest stretches of the season at the plate, as he's slugged three home runs while posting a .294/.500/.824 slash line across 24 plate appearances over his last six games.

Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two strikeouts as Los Angeles fell 6-2 to San Diego on Monday.

Smith took reliever Craig Stammen deep in the eighth for only the third Dodger hit of the game but was ineffective otherwise. It was Smith's second home run in three games and he now has four in June after hitting five combined in April and May.

Nola (knee) participated in batting practice Monday and did catching work off a machine Sunday, Bernie Wilson of the Associated Press reports.

Nola isn't necessarily close to a return, but he at least appears to be making progress as he works his way back from a sprained left knee. The Padres haven't mentioned a timeframe for the backstop's return. While he's out, Victor Caratini will continue to serve as the team's primary catcher.

Trevino went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Monday's 8-3 win over the Athletics.

Trevino's three-run blast in the sixth inning put the game out of reach and helped secure the win for Texas. Since his last homer on June 3, he had been stuck in a 1-for-22 slump. The 28-year-old catcher has three home runs, 15 RBI and a .554 OPS through 161 plate appearances.

Nido left the first game of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta with an apparent wrist injury, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Nido was hit in the wrist by a pitch and replaced by James McCann, who will almost certainly start behind the plate for the nightcap. The severity of Nido's injury is not yet clear.

Garver (groin) resumed baseball activities Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Garver had been doing some light movement last week, and he was able to play catch on the field ahead of Monday's game against the Reds. A timetable for the catcher's return to game action hasn't yet been established, but Monday's progression is a clear step in the right direction.

Maldonado isn't in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Maldonado drew three consecutive starts behind the plate and went 0-for-10 with a run, an RBI, a walk and five strikeouts. Jason Castro will start at catcher and bat ninth.

Contreras is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Mets.

Kevan Smith will get the nod behind the dish in Game 1, catching for lefty Kyle Muller in his first big-league start. Expect Contreras to handle catching duties in the nightcap, when right-hander Ian Anderson will be on the mound.

Stassi went 3-for-4 in Sunday's loss to Detroit.

All three of the backstop's hits were singles and none resulted in any runs, but the performance was another promising one during a month in which Stassi has racked up six multi-hit efforts. In June, he is slashing .391/.472/.739 with four homers, 11 RBI and 15 runs over 14 games. The big month has pushed his season average to an impressive .333.
