  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Homers twice in win

Garver went 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and a walk in Friday's 9-4 win over the Cubs.

Garver entered Friday with just one home run on the year but went deep in both the sixth and ninth innings. The 34-year-old is now 6-for-23 with six RBI through six June contests and carries a modest five-game hitting streak. On the season, he's slashing .216/.321/.319 with three homers, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored and three steals across 134 plate appearances while serving in a part-time role at catcher and designated hitter.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

    Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Idle Friday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Milwaukee.

Jeffers was struck in the hand by a foul tip Tuesday and missed Wednesday's contest because of it. Despite returning Thursday, Jeffers will get the night off Friday. Christian Vazquez will fill in behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Not in Friday's lineup

Kelly is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Kelly had started each of the previous two contests but will get a breather for the series opener versus Seattle. Reese McGuire is catching and batting ninth for the Cubs on Friday.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Homers in extra-inning loss

Caratini went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.

Caratini delivered a game-tying blast off Mason Miller in the eighth inning. This was Caratini's second straight contest with a homer, and he's hit safely in his last three games. The catcher is at a .261/.327/.405 slash line with five long balls, 17 RBI, 17 runs scored and seven doubles over 171 plate appearances. In addition to his catching duties, he's picked up starts at first base and designated hitter as manager Joe Espada continues to find room for him in the lineup. That playing time should remain steady as long as Houston's outfield is thinned out by injuries, limiting the options for players available to take turns at DH.

  • Athletics' Willie MacIver: Homer, steal in win

MacIver went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a stolen base in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Astros.

MacIver opened the scoring with his first big-league homer, a second-inning solo shot. This was his second multi-hit effort, and he's now batting .237 with three RBI, three runs scored, two steals and three doubles over 13 contests. MacIver and Austin Wynns will continue to share catching duties while Shea Langeliers (oblique) is out.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Productive in rout

Baldwin went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Mets.

Baldwin drew multiple walks for the first time this season in a much-needed productive outing at the plate. The lefty-hitting backstop had gone just 3-for-25 (.120) with a lone RBI over his prior nine games to Thursday, but he's been able to hold down a strong-side platoon role at catcher with the righty-hitting Sean Murphy. Baldwin is slashing .287/.342/.462 with seven homers, four doubles and 21 RBI across 155 plate appearances on the year, while Murphy has a woeful .557 OPS over his last 48 at-bats.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Plates four in rout

Jeffers went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a two-RBI double during Thursday's 12-5 win over the Reds.

Jeffers missed Wednesday's contest with a bruised hand but re-entered the lineup Thursday and had a monster game, setting a season high in RBI. He launched a two-run homer in the eighth inning off Taylor Rogers, marking the catcher's fifth long ball of the season. Since the start of June, Jeffers has gone 11-for-43 (.256) with two home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Breaks out of mini-slump

Kirk went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and an RBI single in Thursday's 9-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Kirk entered the game having gone 0-for-16 over his last four starts. He busted out and made a major impact Thursday, belting solo home runs in the second and seventh innings before driving in another run in the eighth. Kirk is up to seven home runs on the year, which surpasses his total from 2024 (five), and his .313 batting average is second best in the majors among qualified catchers behind Will Smith (.333).

  • Austin Wynns C | ATH

    Athletics' Austin Wynns: Resting Thursday

Wynns isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Wynns will take a seat for Thursday's series finale after going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Wednesday. While he rests, Willie MacIver will take over at catcher and bat eighth.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Taking seat for nightcap

Bart isn't in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Detroit.

Bart will get a chance to rest Thursday evening after going 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in the early game. Henry Davis will be on the receiving end of Paul Skenes' pitches while batting eighth in Game 2.
