Perez has been dealing with blurred vision all week, appearing in just one game. It's not clear when he's expected to return to action. Cam Gallagher will be the catcher in his absence.

Stallings is not in the lineup Friday against the Brewers.

Stallings started the past five games and went 6-for-14 during that stretch, but he'll receive a day off for Friday's series opener. John Ryan Murphy will take over behind the plate and bat ninth for Pittsburgh.

With the Yankees' weekend series against the Mets canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, Higashioka could end up taking on extra duty down the line if the Yankees are forced to make up the missed contests with doubleheaders.

Bemboom went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a run-scoring walk in Thursday's loss to San Francisco.

Bemboom entered the game in the second inning after starter Max Stassi was forced to leave after suffering a right knee contusion. Bemboom took advantage of the opportunity, going deep to right field in the sixth inning and drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. With Jason Castro recently returning to the lineup after missing multiple games due to a stiff neck, Bemboom was essentially serving as an emergency option as the team's third catcher, though he could now be in line for an occasional start if Stassi is forced to miss any time.

Jackson was recalled from Atlanta's alternate training site Friday.

The 24-year-old is 2-for-7 in three games this season and will rejoin the major-league roster for the weekend matchup with Philadelphia. Jackson is likely to fill a reserve role while Tyler Flowers and Travis d'Arnaud remain healthy.

Hedges went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and another run scored during Thursday's win over the Rangers.

With one out and the score knotted 6-6 in the eighth inning, Hedges took Jesse Chavez deep with a solo shot to give the Padres the lead. The long ball was the third of the year for the backstop, who is hitting just .167/.239/.381 across 20 games this season.

Trevino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, three RBI and another run scored during Thursday's loss to the Padres.

Trevino gave Texas the lead with a two-run shot off Dinelson Lamet in the fifth inning. The long ball was the first of the year for the 27-year-old backstop, who was called up Friday when the Rangers placed Robinson Chirinos (ankle) on the injured list.

Stassi left Thursday's game against the giants with a right knee contusion.

Stassi exited after taking a ball off his knee while catching in the second inning. He was replaced by Anthony Bemboom. X-rays on Stassi's knee came back negative, although it isn't known if he'll be forced to miss any time beyond Thursday.

McCann went 2-for-4 with two singles, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 9-0 win over the Tigers.

McCann drew the start behind the dish Thursday with Yasmani Grandal still nursing a back issue. The backstop picked up a pair of singles to raise his batting average to .341 on the campaign. McCann could start again Friday against the Cubs if Grandal is still unable to go.

Heineman was optioned to San Francisco's alternate camp site Thursday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Heineman's move to the team's satellite camp corresponds with top prospect Joey Bart's move to the majors. The backstop appeared in 13 games during his time with the Giants and hit .195 with a 4:6 BB:K.
