    Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Rakes three hits

    Narvaez went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Angels.

    Narvaez was in the thick of the Mariners' offense, accounting for over half of the team's hits in the game. He scored the opening run on a Dee Gordon sacrifice fly in the second inning, then added the run-scoring single in the third inning, plating J.P. Crawford. Narvaez's breakout year continues, with the catcher hitting .300/.370/.498 for the season, adding 16 homers, 39 RBI and 47 runs scored. He has recorded three or more hits in three of his last eight games.

    Twins' Mitch Garver: Homers, reaches base three times

    Garver went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks Saturday against the Athletics.

    Garver took Brett Anderson deep to lead off the bottom half of the first inning, recording his 17th home run of the season. He's started six of eight games since the All-Star break, smacking four home runs in that span. The 28-year-old is in the midst of a breakout campaign, hitting .294/.378/.638 across 201 plate appearances.

    Red Sox's Sandy Leon: Pinch-hit homer

    Leon went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit home run Saturday against the Orioles.

    Leon took Stevie Wilkerson deep in the ninth inning to record his third home run of the season. He took advantage of a position player on the mound, cranking a 55 mph fastball out to center field. Leon is firmly behind Christian Vazquez on the depth chart and is hitting just .207/.276/.306 across 126 plate appearances this season.

    Athletics' Sean Murphy: Rehabbing in Arizona

    Murphy (knee) has appeared in four rehab games with Oakland's Arizona League affiliate.

    Murphy has been out since undergoing surgery on his torn left meniscus in early May. His return to the Triple-A level doesn't appear to be too far off.

    Angels' Matt Thaiss: Not starting Saturday

    Thaiss is not in the lineup Saturday against Seattle.

    Thaiss has had a part-time role since getting called up in early July, starting seven times in 14 games. He's done very little at the plate, hitting .120/.185/.280 in 27 plate appearances.

    Nationals' Yan Gomes: Not starting Saturday

    Gomes is not in the lineup Saturday against Atlanta.

    Gomes and Kurt Suzuki have each started four games in the second half. Suzuki gets the nod behind the plate for Saturday's contest.

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Homers in return

    Smith (wrist) went 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Triple-A Oklahoma City's win over San Antonio on Friday.

    The 24-year-old got crossed up behind the plate Wednesday and the pitch hit his right wrist, forcing Smith from the game. He was then held out Thursday, but Smith was back a day later and proved his health with his 19th long ball with Oklahoma City this season (22nd total). Smith is on the 40-man roster and could return to Los Angeles before Sept. 1 if there is an injury, or if the Dodgers decide to move on from Austin Barnes as the primary starter.

    Orioles' Austin Wynns: Sent to Triple-A

    The Orioles optioned Wynns to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

    With Pedro Severino apparently healthy again after battling an illness that left him unavailable for Friday's win over the Red Sox, there was no need for the Orioles to carry Wynns any longer as the backup catcher behind Chance Sisco. The Orioles recalled reliever Tanner Scott from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

    Mariners' Tom Murphy: Pair of RBI in win

    Murphy went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a run in a win over the Angels on Friday.

    Murphy's solid offensive season continued in Friday's win, with his multi-hit effort pushing his average in July to .316. The veteran backstop has continued to display his penchant for timely hitting during the current month as well, as he now has four RBI over his last five games. For the season, Murphy boasts a .908 OPS over 56 plate appearances with men on base.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

    Pirates' Elias Diaz: On bench Saturday

    Diaz is not in the lineup Saturday against the Phillies.

    Diaz has hit an unimpressive .255/.308/.327 on the season. He and Jacob Stallings, who will startl behind the plate Saturday, have alternated starts over the last six games.
