Narvaez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against Boston.

Narvaez returned Saturday after a finger ligament strain sidelined him for a few days and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. Welington Castillo (shoulder) was activated off the 10-day disabled list, further complicated the White Sox catching situation. Kevan Smith will start behind the plate and bat sixth Sunday.

Maldonado will start Sunday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Maldonado will share the primary catcher job with Brian McCann going forward in a timeshare manager A.J. Hinch described as going "with the hot hand," although the manager has consistently prevented any of his catchers from starting more than three or four days in a row. McCann started Saturday, his first game since being activated from the disabled list.

Stassi is third on the depth chart behind Brian McCann and Martin Maldonado, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

With McCann returning to the fold Saturday, manager A.J. Hinch outlined his strategy for divvying up playing time among three catchers. He said he'll ride the hot hand between McCann and Maldonado and "work Stassi in when I can." That's where Stassi has fallen after he looked like a Rookie of the Year candidate in the first half, when he slugged .457 while pounding left-handed pitching. He eventually lost the primary starter duties after Maldonado was acquired and will act as surplus catching over the final month of the season.

Trevino is out of the sling on his left shoulder following surgery, and he's planning to resume baseball activities in December, Jeff Wilson of the Star-Telegram reports.

The 25-year-old mustered a .234/.284/.332 line in 201 plate appearances with Double-A Frisco in 2018. Trevino will probably get a decent look with the big club in spring training but likely needs at least another season to even sniff consideration for a significant major-league role.

Nido went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Nido, who appeared in his third game since he was called up from Double-A Binghamton on Aug. 24, laced a Derek Holland offering over Austin Slater's head and plated Brandon Nimmo. With No. 1 backstop Kevin Plawecki on the paternity list this weekend, Nido, one of the Mets' possible options for the future behind the plate, might steal one more start from Devin Mesoraco before Plawecki's activation, which would bump Nido back down to the No. 3 role in the Mets' expanded roster.

Realmuto went 2-for-3, including his 18th homer of the season, against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Realmuto now has a modest five-game hitting streak and has multiple hits in three of his last four games. Saturday's homer was a welcomed event as it was just the third extra-base hit for the catcher over his last 10 games.

Murphy was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

The backstop, who homered 17 times for the Isotopes in just 236 at-bats, hasn't found much success in limited big-league opportunities this season, slashing a mere .227/.253/.398 in 91 plate appearances. Though several starts could come his way down the stretch, Murphy will find it difficult to break through for much work ahead of Chris Iannetta, Tony Wolters and recent acquisition Drew Butera.

The Diamondbacks purchased Stewart's contract from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

The veteran was acquired Thursday from the Braves and finds himself on the major-league roster two days later. However, Stewart will struggle to find much playing time, now serving as the club's No. 4 catcher in an already busy time share between the top three options.

Haase was called up from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.

Haase makes his way to the majors for the first time in his career after posting a .236/.288/.443 slash line with 20 home runs in 433 at-bats for the Clippers. The 25-year-old may garner a few starts with the Indians but is likely to serve in a reserve role in the midst of a playoff push.

Stallings was called up by the Pirates on Saturday.

Stallings will serve as the Pirates' third catcher for the stretch run. His limited role will likely prevent him from having much fantasy value, though a solid .285/.335/.414 line for Triple-A Indianapolis hints at some potential.
