  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Feels 'fine' following game

    Perez (hand) stated that he felt fine after leaving Wednesday's game and he should be back in action for Friday's series opener in Seattle, Rustin Dodd of The Athleticreports.

    Perez appears to have avoided any sort of major injury, as he added that the foul ball got his forearm right by a nerve which caused him to lose feeling in his hand for a couple minutes. With the Royals off Thursday, don't expect Perez to miss any time.

    Twins' Mitch Garver: Not in Wednesday's lineup

    Garver is out of the lineup against the White Sox on Wednesday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

    Garver will take a seat after going 1-for-2 with a walk and one run scored during Tuesday's series opener. In his absence, Bobby Wilson will catch and bat ninth.

    Perez was removed from Wednesday's game after taking a foul a ball off his right hand, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic reports.

    Perez exited the contest in Milwaukee during the bottom of the ninth inning. The catcher will have some extra time to recover with a scheduled off day on tap for the Royals on Thursday, but these sorts of injuries always poise a little concern.

    Indians' Yan Gomes: Out of Wednesday's lineup

    Gomes is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

    Gomes will receive a standard day off after starting the past three games and following a three-strikeout showing during Tuesday's loss. In his stead, Roberto Perez will catch for Shane Bieber.

  • Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Scratched from Wednesday's lineup

    Realmuto (wrist) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

    It appeared Realmuto was ready to return to action after sitting out the previous two days, as he was listed in the Marlins' initial starting nine. However, it turns out he is not ready to play just yet. Derek Dietrich will get the start at first base.

    Tigers' James McCann: Receives breather Wednesday

    McCann is out of the lineup against Oakland on Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

    McCann will take a seat after going 1-for-5 with one RBI during Tuesday's loss. In his stead, Grayson Greiner will catch Mike Fiers and bat seventh in the Tigers' order.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Day off Wednesday

    Vazquez is not in the lineup against the Angels on Wednesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

    Vazquez will receive a standard day off after going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double during Tuesday's victory. In his absence, Sandy Leon will catch Rick Porcello and bat eighth.

  • Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Returns to lineup Wednesday

    Realmuto (wrist) is back in the lineup Wednesday against Arizona, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

    Realmuto sat for two games after getting struck in the hand by a foul ball Sunday. He's not yet back behind the plate but is playing first base and batting third against the Diamondbacks.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Gets day off Wednesday

    Barnhart is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Braves, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

    Barnhart will get a breather for the day game after starting each of the past four games behind the plate. Curt Casali will get the nod at catcher, serving as the batterymate for Reds pitcher Luis Castillo.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Heads to bench Tuesday

    Grandal is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.

    Grandal returns to the bench Tuesday with left-hander Jon Lester taking the mound for the Cubs, leaving the catching duties to Austin Barnes. Grandal is slashing only .156/.182/.313 in 66 plate appearances over his last 18 games.
