McCann is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Indians.

He and Alex Avila have been on an every-other-day starting regimen over the past week, and McCann has just one hit in his last 13 at-bats. Avila will start behind the dish and hit seventh against righty Carlos Carrasco.

D'Arnaud (wrist) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Braves, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

D'Arnaud aggravated a wrist injury Tuesday and was pulled early in that contest, so it's not too surprising that manager Terry Collins will hold the backstopper out of the lineup a day later. Rene Rivera will receive the nod behind the dish, catching for Jacob deGrom. The Mets are viewing d'Arnaud as day-to-day for now, but a trip to the disabled list could become a more realistic possibility if he's still hurting once the weekend arrives.

Barnhart is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The writing was on the wall for Barnhart's starting opportunities to take a hit after Devin Mesoraco was activated from the disabled list last Thursday, and now that Barnhart is out of the lineup for the second day in a row, it appears as though he's settled into backup duties behind the plate. With a .269 average, three RBI and five runs in 75 plate appearances, Barnhart hasn't offered much value outside of two-catcher leagues this season, and his fantasy utility will only take a further hit now that his starts will become more scarce.

Contreras isn't included in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Contreras will get a breather after spending the last three games behind the plate. Miguel Montero will handle the catching duties, serving as the battery mate for starting pitcher Jake Arrieta while batting seventh in the order.

Realmuto is hitting out of the leadoff spot Wednesday against the Rays, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 26-year-old is hitless in his last three starts, but with Dee Gordon getting the night off, Realmuto will top the order for the time being. He'll likely return to his lower positioning once Gordon re-enters the lineup, but for now, Realmuto could have more opportunities to score runs batting ahead of the heart of Miami's lineup.

Murphy (forearm) is now wearing a soft cast on his ailing forearm after a bone scan revealed less healing than expected, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.

The scan showed some improvement, but this certainly isn't the news the Rockies wanted to hear. Murphy was hoping to get back to baseball activities earlier this week, but with his healing process going slowly, he'll likely need to wait another week or so before that becomes a possibility again. This news comes at an especially bad time, as Tony Wolters (concussion) will likely also miss some time after taking a bat to the head Tuesday, leaving Dustin Garneau as the lone catcher on the 40-man roster.

D'Arnaud exited Tuesday's game against the Braves early due to a sore right wrist, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

D'Arnaud missed a short stretch of games earlier this season with wrist pain. It appears that this discomfort has reemerged and forced the catcher to exit Tuesday's game early. It's unclear if the early exit was simply precautionary or if d'Arnaud will have to miss more time. For now, he'll be considered day-to-day.

The reason for d'Arnaud's early departure is not yet known, but the starting catcher was replaced by Kevin Plawecki between the fifth and sixth inning. D'Arnaud was 0-for-3 with a strikeout prior to his early exit. A report on his condition should become available shortly.

Grandal is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Giants, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Grandal will head to the bench as Austin Barnes gets the nod against southpaw Matt Moore. The switch-hitting backstop is slashing just .213/.310/.387 through 24 games this season, and should find himself back in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale.

The Yankees plan to active Sanchez (biceps) from the DL on Friday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Sanchez progressed to normal batting practice Monday and has been ramping up his throwing with no reported issues. He will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday in preparation for a weekend return in Chicago. Manager Joe Girardi said he's inclined to return Sanchez to the two-hole upon his activation, where Sanchez was for his first five starts of 2017, pushing Chase Headley back down in the batting order.
