The Cubs signed Nido to a one-year contract Wednesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The Cubs will swap out Yan Gomes -- who was designated for assignment -- for Nido. Nido was designated for assignment himself and eventually released by the Mets earlier this month but he quickly lands on his feet in Chicago, where he'll share catching duties with Miguel Amaya.

Stubbs is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Stubbs will get some rest in the series finale after he caught three of the Phillies' last four games. Rafael Marchan will settle in behind the plate in Wednesday's day game.

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

He'll take a seat for the afternoon game after making starts at catcher and designated hitter in the first two contests of the series in Pittsburgh. Luke Maile will check in for Stephenson behind the plate Wednesday.

Campusano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Philadelphia.

Campusano and Kyle Higashioka have split starts down the middle this month at catcher, with both getting nine apiece. Higashioka will catch Wednesday for Padres knuckleballer Matt Waldron.

Herrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Herrera will get a breather for Wednesday's day game after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored while catching the first nine innings of Tuesday night's 9-8 extra-inning loss. Pedro Pages will step in behind the dish for the series finale.

Kelly is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Kelly will hit the bench for Wednesday's day game after he caught eight innings of Tuesday night's 2-1 loss while going 0-for-3 with a walk. Jake Rogers will spell Kelly behind the plate for the series finale.

Heim went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Heim returned from a paternity leave Tuesday and was back in the lineup as the catcher. He's batting .235/.278/.341 with six home runs, 31 RBI, one steal and 22 runs scored over 241 plate appearances.

Casali went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Cubs.

Casali had half of the Giants' hits and drove in all of their runs with a two-run double in the fifth inning. This was his second straight multi-hit effort, though Casali's playing time is sparse with Patrick Bailey seeing most of the work behind the dish. For the season, Casali is slashing .243/.349/.297 with two doubles, four RBI and five runs scored over 44 plate appearances.

Contreras (head) is serving as the Brewers' designated hitter and batting second Tuesday against the Angels.

Contreras had to sit out Monday's contest after he was hit in the head during a play at the plate Sunday. He now seems to be in good enough shape to play again, though it will be Gary Sanchez behind the dish catching for Tobias Myers. Contreras still holds a .305 batting average on the season, but he has struggled to find consistent success recently, slashing just .232/.246/.321 since the start of June.

Murphy (knee) has been taking batting practice and throwing out to 110 feet as of last week, MLB.com reports.

Murphy was seemingly cleared to resume baseball activities earlier this month, but he likely still has a few checkpoints to hit in his recovery from a left knee sprain before the Giants clear him to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 33-year-old backstop is currently on the 60-day injured list and won't be eligible for activation until the first week of July.
