  • Jake Rogers C | CHW

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Not starting Saturday

Rogers isn't in the Tigers' lineup Saturday versus the Giants.

Rogers has split time evenly behind the plate with Dillon Dingler ever since the latter arrived in the majors in late July. He'll step aside once again Saturday while Dingler catches for opener Alex Faedo.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Soothes slump with two RBI

Smith went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and two RBI in Friday's 9-5 win against Pittsburgh.

Smith's third-inning two-run single wasn't well-struck -- it was a blooper that landed in right field on a check swing -- but it was a big moment for the catcher given his post-break slump that had included a .096 batting average and 32.2 percent strikeout rate over his previous 13 contests. The recent punchouts have been particularly out of character for the All-Star backstop, whose strikeout rates have been 16.6 and 16.1 percent in the past two seasons, respectively. Smith's slump has brought his season slash line down to .247/.327/.433, and his .760 OPS is on pace for a career-worst mark. He's still been among the most productive fantasy performers at his position, though, with 15 home runs, 60 RBI and 54 runs over 407 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Not starting Saturday

Wong isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Wong will give way to Danny Jansen behind the plate Saturday after going 0-for-9 with five strikeouts over his last two games.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Idle Saturday

Kirk isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

Kirk had his five-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-4 performance Friday, and he'll now get a chance to rest Saturday while Brian Serven catches for Yariel Rodriguez.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Drives in two Friday

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in a win over the Mets on Friday.

Raleigh provided the final runs of the night via his eighth-inning knock, which plated Leo Rivas and Victor Robles. The slugging backstop crossed the 70-RBI threshold for the second consecutive season in the process, and he's now knocked in multiple runs on six occasions in the last calendar month. Raleigh also extended his on-base streak to eight games with his single, and he's reached safely in 15 of the last 16 contests overall.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Beginning assignment Sunday

Trevino (quadricep) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday at Double-A Somerset, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Trevino has been on the injured list for four weeks after suffering a Grade 2 strain of his left quad, but he has officially been given the green light to play in minor-league games. The Yankees haven't specified how long they plan on keeping the 31-year-old in the minors, though a mid-to-late-August return seems likely.

  • Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Goes yard twice in win

Contreras went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 8-5 win over the Royals.

The veteran backstop bookended a big day for the Cardinals' offense by launching a two-run homer off Michael Lorenzen in the first inning and a solo shot off Angel Zerpa in the ninth. With the performance, Contreras snapped an 11-game homer drought, a stretch in which he hit just .146 (6-for-41) with one RBI. On the season, he has 15 doubles, 15 home runs and 34 RBI in 72 contests, and Contreras' .875 OPS would be his highest mark since 2019.

  • Joey Bart C | CHW

Pirates' Joey Bart: Reaches 10-homer mark

Bart went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's 9-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Bart remains hot at the plate, with four homers and 10 RBI over his last seven contests. He's also posted a 1:7 BB:K in that span, but that's less of a concern when he's making such authoritative contact. For the year, the catcher is up to a .267/.349/.514 slash line with 10 homers, 32 RBI, 23 runs scored and six doubles over 49 contests. His career high in homers is 11 in 97 games with the Giants in 2022.

  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: First career homer a walk-off

Del Castillo went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 3-2 win against the Phillies.

After collecting his first career hit in his debut Wednesday, the 24-year-old catcher topped it by taking Jeff Hoffman deep to right field for a 416-foot, walk-off homer Friday. Del Castillo opened the game's scoring earlier with a first-inning RBI single. After posting an impressive .319/.403/.608 slash line across 452 appearances at Triple-A Reno, Del Castillo could garner more starts at catcher and designated hitter while Gabriel Moreno (groin) is sidelined if he keeps producing performances like this one.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

Astros' Yainer Diaz: Homers in win

Diaz went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-4 win over the Red Sox.

Diaz singled in the seventh inning and then added a two-run homer in the ninth. He has carried a hot July into August, going 10-for-28 with four multi-hit efforts in his last seven contests. On the year, the 25-year-old is hitting .301 with 11 home runs, 61 RBI and 48 runs scored across 429 plate appearances.
