David Fry C | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: On bench for matinee
Fry is out of the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Twins.
Fry has gone 3-for-21 with two homers through his first six games in August and will take a seat for the matinee of Friday's twin bill. Jose Ramirez is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Daniel Schneemann shifts to third base and Brayan Rocchio starts at shortstop.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: Successful as pinch hitter Thursday
Garver entered Thursday's win over the Tigers as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and singled in his one plate appearance.
Garver was on the bench to start the night for the third time in the last four games, but he delivered when called upon in the eighth. The struggling veteran now has hits in back-to-back games, but the 0-for-19 stretch that immediately preceded that pair of contests is a microcosm of a nightmarish debut campaign in Seattle that sees him carrying a .170 average and career-low .623 OPS through 94 games.

Trevor Larnach LF | MIN
Twins' Trevor Larnach: Not starting first game
Larnach is out of the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.
Larnach should be in the lineup for the second game of the twin bill, but he'll begin the matinee on the bench. The Twins have Manuel Margot in left field and Royce Lewis at designated hitter in the first contest.

Willie Calhoun DH | LAA
Angels' Willie Calhoun: Not in Thursday's lineup
Calhoun isn't in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Calhoun will take a seat for the fourth time in the Angels' last five games after going 1-for-2 with two walks in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader. Brandon Drury will serve as Los Angeles' designated hitter while Michael Stefanic starts at the keystone.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Sitting down Thursday
Jimenez isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Jimenez will get a day to rest Thursday after going 8-for-15 with four RBI over his last four games. His absence will put Anthony Santander into the DH role while Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Ryan O'Hearn start across the outfield.

David Fry C | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: Swats homer in nightcap
Fry went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Fry didn't play in the first game, but he started at first base in the second contest. The homer was his second over six games in August after he had just one extra-base hit, a double, in all of July. The 28-year-old has cooled off dramatically since his hot start to the year, but he still has a .275/.375/.447 slash line with 10 homers, 39 RBI, 36 runs scored, four stolen bases and 14 doubles over 89 contests. Fry hasn't been strictly platooned, but he's not an everyday option versus right-handed pitchers.

Willie Calhoun DH | LAA
Angels' Willie Calhoun: Sitting out nightcap
Calhoun isn't in the Angels' lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Yankees.
After going 1-for-2 and drawing two walks during a loss in Game 1, Calhoun will take a seat for the second half of Wednesday's twin bill. His absence will move Logan O'Hoppe into the DH spot while Matt Thaiss starts behind the plate.

Justyn-Henry Malloy 3B | TB
Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Getting Wednesday off
Malloy isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
After going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts during Tuesday's series opener, Malloy will get a day to rest Wednesday. His absence will move Colt Keith into the DH role while Zach McKinstry starts at second base and bats seventh.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Pushing for everyday role
Jimenez will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Jimenez was widely expected to fill the short side platoon of a platoon at DH when the Orioles acquired him from the White Sox on July 30, but the 27-year-old appears to have pushed his way into a near-everyday role, at least while he's swinging a hot bat. He'll be picking up his fourth consecutive start -- including his third in a row against a right-hander (Bowden Francis) -- after going 6-for-12 with a double and two RBI to begin his tenure with the Orioles. Meanwhile, the lefty-hitting Cedric Mullins will head to the bench for the second game in a row.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Resting for first game of day
Stanton is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Angels.
The Yankees likely aren't keen on having superstar Aaron Judge play two full games in the outfield Wednesday, so he'll serve as the designated hitter in the early contest, which leaves no room in the lineup for Stanton. Look for Stanton to serve as the DH in the nightcap while Judge returns to a spot in the outfield.
