Blue Jays' Justin Turner: Not in Monday's lineup

Turner is not in the lineup for Monday's contest in Milwaukee.

Turner has been trending up finally at the plate recently in reaching base 11 times across his last six games, but he will begin this one on the bench. Daniel Vogelbach is at designated hitter.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Plays second rehab game

Yoshida (thumb) was the designated hitter for Triple-A Worcester on Sunday and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Yoshida served as Worcester's DH on back-to-back days to kick off a rehab assignment. Getting him time in the field is not as important as the plate appearances, as Yoshida is expected to be Boston's primary DH. He'll meet with the team's decision-makers Monday to evaluate his progression, per Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe. The club hopes he can be activated later this week.

  • Wyatt Langford OF | TEX

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Triples, drives in two

Langford went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI during Sunday's win over the Giants.

Langford recorded his fourth multi-hit game in the last nine while collecting his fifth and sixth RBI over that same span. Langford is starting to show some positive signs after a slow start to the season, lifting his average to .234 with Sunday's effort and hitting .286 with a double and two triples over this most recent nine-game stretch.

  • Royals' Nelson Velazquez: Out of lineup Sunday

Velazquez is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Mariners.

Velazquez will get a breather Sunday after going 1-for-7 with two RBI and two walks over the first two games of the series. Salvador Perez will serve as the designated hitter Sunday, while Freddy Fermin starts behind home plate.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Begins rehab assignment

Yoshida (thumb) started as the designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in a rehab game for Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.

Yoshida played the first of two rehab games as the DH for Worcester and said that he felt no pain coming out of either contest, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports. He'll serve as Worcester's DH again Sunday, and the Red Sox hope to have him back from the 10-day injured list by the end of the week.

  • Royals' Nelson Velazquez: Nabs rare steal

Velazquez went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Mariners.

Velazquez has gone just 2-for-15 with three walks over five games in June. The outfielder was able to make a rare impact with his legs Saturday, picking up his second steal of the campaign. His power started to come around in late May but has vanished again in June, and he's at a middling .212/.283/.402 slash line with eight home runs, 25 RBI and 29 runs scored through 198 plate appearances this season.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Swats ninth homer

O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-0 win against the Rays.

O'Hearn produced Baltimore's only run against opposing starter Taj Bradley, belting a solo homer to right field in the fourth inning. After Bradley departed, O'Hearn scored his team's second run when he singled and stole second base in the eighth frame before coming home on a Jordan Westburg triple. O'Hearn has homered twice in his past three games and is up to nine long balls on the campaign, putting him well on pace to surpass his career high of 14 homers, which he established in 2019 and tied last season.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Blasts solo home run

Garver went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Saturday's loss to the Royals.

The designated hitter took Alec Marsh deep in the fifth inning to tie up the score. It was Garver's seventh homer of the season and his second in his last three games. Garver has struggled to the tune of a .180/.292/.348 line thus far, but he may be starting to turn it around with eight RBI and four extra-base hits over his last six games.

  • Justin Turner 1B | CHC

Blue Jays' Justin Turner: Taking seat Saturday

Turner is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Oakland.

Turner will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 0-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts in the series opener Friday. The lefty-hitting Daniel Vogelbach will serve as the designated hitter Saturday and bat sixth against Athletics right-hander Luis Medina.

  • Wyatt Langford OF | TEX

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Getting breather Saturday

Langford is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Langford will sit for the first time since returning from the IL on May 28 due to a hamstring injury. Since his return, Langford has slashed .235/.257/.324 with four RBI over 34 at-bats. The lefty-hitting Travis Jankowski will start in left field Saturday and bat seventh against Giants right-hander Spencer Howard.
