Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Provides late insurance homer

Schwarber went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, two RBI and a steal in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

Schwarber singled home the game's first run in the fifth and then followed that up with a solo home run in the ninth to pad the Phillies' lead. He now has a homer in two of his last three games and has notched at least a base hit in six straight. In nine starts since July 27, Schwarber is slashing .378/.531/.865 with five homers, nine RBI and 10 runs scored. He's currently on pace to set career-best marks in hits, runs and on-base percentage. • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Returning to lineup Tuesday

Blackmon (head) is batting leadoff as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Mets.

The 38-year-old sat out Saturday and Sunday after being hit in the head by a throw during Friday's contest, but he'll return to action for Tuesday's series opener versus New York. Blackmon has a .225/.340/.300 slash line with a 7:12 BB:K in 11 games since the All-Star break.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Rejoining lineup Tuesday

McCutchen (quadriceps) is batting leadoff as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Padres.

The 37-year-old was withheld from Sunday's starting nine after he tweaked his quad during Saturday's contest, but he'll make a quick return to the lineup Tuesday. McCutchen has a .240/.345/.360 slash line with one homer and an 8:14 BB:K in 14 games since the All-Star break.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Ohtani went 2-for-3 with a home run, two total RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 5-3 win over Philadelphia.

Ohtani tied the score with a sacrifice fly in the third inning and added a solo homer in the eighth. He also swiped a bag in the fifth frame. This was the seventh time this season that Ohtani has stolen a base and homered in the same game. He's making a serious run at the Triple Crown in the National League, leading the circuit in batting average (.309) and homers (34) while ranking second in RBI (81). • Joc Pederson DH | ARI

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Blasts pinch-hit homer

Pederson hit a two-run home run in Monday's 7-6 win over the Guardians.

Pederson entered the game with one out in the top of the eighth and gave his team the lead with a two-run blast off Scott Barlow. It was Pederson's sixth career pinch-hit home run, and in the process, he became the first Diamondbacks player with go-ahead homers in the seventh inning or later in back-to-back games since 2013. The 32-year-old has caught fire as of late with five home runs and 12 RBI over his last nine games.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Appears as pinch hitter

McCutchen (quadriceps) walked in his only plate appearance and scored a run Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

McCutchen was out of the lineup after injuring his quad Saturday night, though his pinch-hit appearance bodes well for him avoiding the injured list. He was also not pinch run for after reaching base and scored from second base on a single.

  • Joc Pederson DH | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Idle Monday

Pederson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Pederson will dodge a matchup with southpaw Logan Allen on Monday, giving way to Ketel Marte at designated hitter. Though the Diamondbacks will continue to shield Pederson from lefties, he'll retain a spot in the heart of the order whenever Arizona faces right-handed pitching.

He's been seeing the ball exceptionally well as of late, slashing .371/.551/.800 with four homers, nine RBI, eight runs and a 13:13 BB:K over his last 10 games.
