Canha went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

The 34-year-old began the game on the bench, but after Starling Marte (neck) was forced to exit, Canha took over in left field in the bottom of the sixth inning and wound up providing a key two-run double in the top of the ninth. After a slow start to the season, he's batting .265 (9-for-34) over his last 10 games with a homer, both his steals on the year, four runs and four RBI.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Choi (Achilles) is expected to be sidelined eight weeks before resuming baseball activities, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Choi originally tweaked his left Achilles during spring training and tried unsuccessfully to play through it, eventually landed on the injured list this past weekend after being diagnosed with a muscle strain. He won't need surgery at this time but will require plenty of rest and rehab. Even after he's cleared to resume baseball activities, Choi will likely need at least a couple weeks to get his timing back at the plate in minor-league rehab games.

Carpenter is starting at designated hitter and batting fifth for the Padres in Wednesday's game versus the Braves, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

It's the second straight start for Carpenter after Nelson Cruz served as the DH for four of the previous five contests. Carpenter will still probably get most of the starts against righties for now, but he'll need to pick up his .152 average because Cruz has out-produced him so far by a wide margin.

Canha is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Canha has gotten off to a slow start this season and is just 3-for-20 over his last six games. The Mets are going with Jeff McNeil in left field and Luis Guillorme at second base while Canha sits.

Ozuna will sit Wednesday versus the Padres.

Ozuna will take a seat after he went 1-for-7 with a double, a walk and a strikeout in the first two games of the series against San Diego. Eddie Rosario will slot in at designated hitter while Kevin Pillar enters the lineup in left field and bats ninth in the series finale.

Vientos is slashing .364/.446/.764 through 15 games with Triple-A Syracuse to begin the season with four doubles, six home runs, 14 runs and 17 RBI.

The 23-year-old nearly slugged his way onto the big-league roster this spring, and Vientos has carried over his hot hitting into the regular season. Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty have already been promoted to the Mets' roster, but it might take an injury to one of the team's 1B/DH options for Vientos to join them in New York despite his impressive production.

Soler went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's victory over the Giants.

Soler doubled with one out in the fourth inning before coming around to score on Jazz Chisholm's home run. Soler would add a pair of singles later in the game in the Marlins' 4-2 win. The 31-year-old outfielder has swung the bat well of late, going 7-for-16 with three doubles and two home runs in his last six games. Overall, Soler is slashing .263/.323/.649 with five homers, 10 RBI and eight runs scored through 62 at-bats this season.

Martinez went 4-for-5 with two homers, four RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over the Mets.

After having just one hit over his previous four games, Martinez showed why the Dodgers signed him over the offseason. He showed off his vintage power, spraying homers to dead center and the opposite field in back-to-back at-bats. With Trea Turner and Justin Turner no longer on the team, Los Angeles will certainly be looking to Martinez as a centerpiece of the lineup going forward.

Winker (oblique) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.

Winker will serve as the Brewers' designated hitter and bat second versus the Mariners and right-hander Logan Gilbert. He was scratched from Sunday's series finale against the Padres due to right oblique tightness and also sat out Monday's series opener in Seattle.

McCutchen is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.

This appears to be a routine day of rest for the veteran McCutchen, who slugged a solo homer in the Pirates' rout of the Rockies on Monday and is slashing .302/.418/.528 on the year. Canaan Smith-Njigba is starting in right field Tuesday and Carlos Santana is taking a turn as the designated hitter.
