  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Cardinals' Brad Miller: Sitting for Game 1

Miller is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

He has predictably cooled off lately, hitting .105 with a 30 percent strikeout rate and zero extra-base hits over his last six games. Rangel Ravelo will start at designated hitter and bat fifth.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Hasn't yet run at full strength

Turner (hamstring) has only tried running at 50-60 percent so far, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Turner is eligible to return from the injured list, but he requires more time as he continues to work his way back from a left hamstring strain. Manager Dave Roberts was optimistic that he could return within a week, although it's likely that he'll be limited to serving as the designated hitter to begin his time back on the active roster.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Expected to return Saturday

Pederson (personal) is on track to return to action Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Pederson was placed on the paternity list Tuesday. The slugger hit against rehabbing reliever Pedro Baez on Wednesday, but he'll take a few more days before rejoining the active roster.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Cardinals' Brad Miller: Delivers go-ahead RBI

Miller went 1-for-3 with an RBI fielder's choice, a double and a run during a win over the Twins in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday.

The veteran utility man checked into the contest mired in a 1-for-16 slump that had encompassed his previous five games, but he was able to snap a 2-2 tie in the third inning with his fielder's choice groundout that plated Harrison Bader. Despite his recent slump, Miller's season line sits at an impressive .282/.404/.541, figures partly comprised of 11 extra-base hits (five doubles, one triple, five home runs) and 21 RBI across 104 plate appearances.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: On bench against lefty

Dickerson isn't in Wednesday's lineup against the Mariners.

Dickerson will retreat to the bench Wednesday with southpaw Nick Margevicius on the mound for the Mariners. Darin Ruf will take over in left field.

  • Brewers' Daniel Vogelbach: Sitting vs. southpaw

Vogelbach is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Tigers.

Vogelbach has started four straight games, all against right-handers, but he will head to the bench with lefty Matthew Boyd on the hill. Vogelbach has a hit in all four games he has started with the Brewers and is hitting .385 with one run, one RBI and a 3:2 K:BB in 13 at-bats over that span.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Extends sizzling streak

Belt went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.

Belt recorded hits in 10 of his final 14 games in August, and he doesn't have plans to slow down with the calendar flipping to September. The veteran first baseman has already produced three multi-hit performances in seven September games and is slashing .444/.565/.944 with two homers and six RBI across that span.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Sitting Game 2

McCutchen is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

McCutchen started Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill, going 1-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. Kyle Garlick will take over in left field for the Phillies in the nightcap.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Starting Tuesday's contest

Dickerson (knee) is starting in left field and batting second Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

The 30-year-old exited Monday's contest after fouling a pitch off his right knee, but he won't miss a game after X-rays came back negative Tuesday. Dickerson is 13-for-29 with four homers, four doubles, 10 runs and nine RBI in his past eight games.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Placed on paternity list

Pederson was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.

It turns out that the "family-related matter" that kept Pederson out of the lineup Sunday was of the positive variety. The Dodgers should be well-equipped to handle his absence and could give the likes of Enrique Hernandez or Matt Beaty some additional at-bats until he returns. Players typically spend around three days on the paternity list, though the coronavirus pandemic could potentially add some logistical delays to that timeline. Josh Sborz was recalled in a corresponding move.
