  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Cardinals' Brad Miller: Crushes game-tying homer

Miller went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

Miller took Reds starter Tejay Antone deep to center field in the fourth inning, which tied the game at one. That was Miller's sixth homer of the season, to go with a stolen base, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored in 30 games. He's gone just 6-for-32 (.188) with a pair of homers, four RBI and five runs scored in his last 10 contests.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Clubs third homer

Carpenter went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

Carpenter gave the Cardinals some breathing room in the sixth inning with a leadoff solo shot. The veteran infielder has three homers, 20 RBI and 17 runs scored in 35 games this season and is slashing .204/.366/.337 across 123 plate appearances.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Sitting against lefty

Pederson is not in the lineup Saturday against the Astros, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The 28-year-old was activated from the paternity list Friday, but he won't immediately rejoin the lineup with lefty Framber Valdez pitching for Houston. Pederson figures to start Sunday against righty Zack Greinke. A.J. Pollock will shift to left field while Gavin Lux serves as the designated hitter.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Still out Saturday

Winker (back) isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals.

Winker will sit out a second straight contest after leaving Thursday's game with back tightness. Aristides Aquino will serve as the designated hitter Saturday.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Big day in twin bill

McCutchen went a combined 5-for-8 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI during Friday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

Getting the start in left field and hitting leadoff in both contests, McCutchen spurred the Phillies to an 11-0 win in the matinee, although his efforts weren't as successful in the nightcap, as the Marlins rallied for a 5-3 victory. The veteran outfielder is slashing .263/.319/.421 with six homers, three steals, 22 runs and 28 RBI over 40 games this year.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Dominant against Nationals

Ozuna went 5-for-6 with a home run, one double, four RBI and one walk in Friday's loss to the Nationals.

Ozuna played a key role in Atlanta's comeback bid Friday, but the team came up just short in the 12-inning contest. Following his performance against Washington, he carries a 1.041 OPS with 14 home runs and 41 RBI.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Delivers walkoff grand slam

Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a walkoff grand slam and a sacrifice fly in Friday's 8-4 win over the Angels.

Blackmon completed the Rockies' rally in the bottom of the ninth, slugging his sixth homer of the year off Angels reliever Jose Quijada. The 34-year-old Blackmon is slashing an excellent .331/.383/.506 with 35 RBI, 27 runs scored and a stolen base through 43 games this season. The grand slam was his second of the year.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Could return early next week

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Thursday that the team is targeting early next week for Turner's (hamstring) activation from the injured list, Michael J. Duarte of NBC LA reports.

Thanks to a healthy division lead and a firm grasp on a playoff spot, the Dodgers have had the luxury of allowing Turner to take his time healing a strained left hamstring. The third baseman has been on the injured list since Sept. 1, and though initial reports suggested he was slated for a minimum stay, he has only recently started running at about half effort. Turner could work his way back into form by serving as designated hitter with the expectation that he'll be back at the hot corner by the start of the postseason.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Plates pair in nightcap

Carpenter went 2-for-2 with an RBI single and a run-scoring double during a loss to the Tigers in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday.

After sitting out Game 1 of the twin bill, Carpenter was the only other source of runs outside of Tommy Edman in Game 2. The veteran was making his first start since Monday, but he's made relatively good use of his opportunities thus far in September. Carpenter has managed to generate five RBI on just five hits during the month, and thanks in part to the five walks he's also drawn, he boasts a .423 on-base percentage across 26 plate appearances over that span.

  • Brewers' Daniel Vogelbach: On bench against lefty

Vogelbach will sit against lefty Jon Lester and the Cubs on Friday.

Vogelbach has at least one hit in all four of his games for his new team. It appears that he's set for a platoon role, as he started against four straight righties before sitting against a pair of lefties. Ryan Braun will remain the designated hitter Friday, with Tyrone Taylor making another start in right field.
