Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: Extends sizzling streak
Belt went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.
Belt recorded hits in 10 of his final 14 games in August, and he doesn't have plans to slow down with the calendar flipping to September. The veteran first baseman has already produced three multi-hit performances in seven September games and is slashing .444/.565/.944 with two homers and six RBI across that span.

Andrew McCutchen DH | ATL
Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Sitting Game 2
McCutchen is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
McCutchen started Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill, going 1-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. Kyle Garlick will take over in left field for the Phillies in the nightcap.

Alex Dickerson DH | ATL
Giants' Alex Dickerson: Starting Tuesday's contest
Dickerson (knee) is starting in left field and batting second Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
The 30-year-old exited Monday's contest after fouling a pitch off his right knee, but he won't miss a game after X-rays came back negative Tuesday. Dickerson is 13-for-29 with four homers, four doubles, 10 runs and nine RBI in his past eight games.

Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Placed on paternity list
Pederson was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.
It turns out that the "family-related matter" that kept Pederson out of the lineup Sunday was of the positive variety. The Dodgers should be well-equipped to handle his absence and could give the likes of Enrique Hernandez or Matt Beaty some additional at-bats until he returns. Players typically spend around three days on the paternity list, though the coronavirus pandemic could potentially add some logistical delays to that timeline. Josh Sborz was recalled in a corresponding move.

Matt Carpenter DH | STL
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Not starting afternoon game
Carpenter is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Twins, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Carpenter has just three hits in his last 12 games, though the veteran was never all that likely to start twice in one day. Tommy Edman will be the third baseman in his absence.

Darin Ruf DH | MIL
Giants' Darin Ruf: Collects two hits
Ruf went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Ruf entered the game in place of Alex Dickerson and made great use of his only two plate appearances. His two-run single in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie. The 34-year-old owns a .291 average with 12 RBI this season.

Alex Dickerson DH | ATL
Giants' Alex Dickerson: X-rays come back clean
Dickerson's (knee) X-ray came back negative Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Dickerson exited Monday's game in the fourth inning after fouling a pitch off his right knee. However, it appears that he avoided serious injury, as the team is calling the injury a contusion. If Dickerson is held out of Tuesday's contest -- or beyond -- Darin Ruf and/or Austin Slater could see an uptick in playing time.

Alex Dickerson DH | ATL
Giants' Alex Dickerson: Exits Monday's contest
Dickerson fouled a ball off his knee and exited Monday's contest against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Dickerson took a big cut at the plate and fouled a ball directly off his right knee, forcing his departure in the fourth inning. He was replaced by Darin Ruf.

Matt Carpenter DH | STL
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Checks back into lineup
Carpenter will start at third base and will bat seventh Monday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Carpenter was on the bench for the last two games, likely just as a means of hitting the reset button after he slashed .116/.367/.209 over his previous 15 games. While the 34-year-old still boasts a patient eye at the plate (13.4 percent walk rate since 2019), his power production and strikeout rate have been trending in undesirable directions over the past two seasons. He's struck out in 26.8 percent of his plate appearances and has posted a .156 ISO during that two-season stretch, both well off his career marks of 19.9 percent and .191, respectively.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Dodgers' Justin Turner: Faces live pitching
Turner (hamstring) took swings during a simulated game Sunday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Turner stood in against reliever Pedro Baez during the latter's sim game as both players progress toward a return to the active roster. Though facing live pitching is a tangible step in a positive direction for Turner, he has yet to clear his biggest hurdle -- running -- in his recovery from a left hamstring strain. The timeline for his return remains uncertain.
