Giants' Jerar Encarnacion: Absent from Tuesday's lineup

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Crushes game-winning homer
Manzardo went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Monday's 4-3 win over the Twins.
The rookie slugger tattooed a Griffin Jax fastball deep to right field in the eighth inning, giving the Guardians their first and only lead of the game. Manzardo still isn't seeing consistent playing time, but he's been a more reliable contributor of late when he is on the lineup card, slashing .278/.333/.583 through 39 plate appearances in September with two doubles and all three of his big-league homers so far.

Andrew McCutchen DH | PIT
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Out of lineup Monday
McCutchen is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in St. Louis, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
McCutchen started the previous three and six of the last seven contests, but he will begin Monday's series opener on the bench. Joey Bart will get a start at designated hitter in McCutchen's stead.

Tyler Heineman DH | TOR
Blue Jays' Tyler Heineman: Lands with Toronto
The Blue Jays claimed Heineman off waivers from the Red Sox on Monday.
Heineman has a minor-league option remaining, but he appears set to join the Blue Jays' 28-man active roster after Toronto designated its backup catcher (Brian Serven) for assignment in a corresponding move. The 33-year-old Heineman will be beginning his third stint with Toronto after spending time in the organization during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Launches 37th homer Sunday
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the White Sox on Sunday.
Rooker's 407-foot shot to center with Lawrence Butler aboard in the fifth inning accounted for Oakland's first runs of the game. The round tripper pushed Rooker's career-best season total to 37 and was his fourth in the last 10 games alone, while the two RBI the big swing generated were his 12th and 13th during that same span.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: Swats three-run homer
Garver went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in Sunday's win over the Rangers.
Garver clobbered the first pitch he saw from Andrew Heaney and sent it over the wall in center field for a three-run blast. He's appeared in only five games this month and Sunday was his first appearance in a full week. Over his last three games, Garver's racked up six hits and nine RBI and is one RBI shy of reaching 50 RBI in consecutive seasons for the first time in his career.

Jerar Encarnacion LF | SF
Giants' Jerar Encarnacion: Gaining traction in lineup
Encarnacion will start in right field and bat cleanup Sunday against the Padres.
Encarnacion will pick up a fifth consecutive start and appears to be gaining traction in the Giants' everyday lineup while moving between designated hitter and the corner outfield. He appears to be poaching playing time from Michael Conforto, who has hit the bench for four of those five games, including three matchups with right-handed pitchers. Encarnacion has produced a .752 OPS with four home runs and one stolen base across 90 plate appearances since receiving a promotion from Triple-A Sacramento in early August.

Joc Pederson DH | ARI
Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Takes seat against lefty
Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
The lefty-hitting Pederson will take a seat for the series finale while the Brewers send southpaw DL Hall to the bump. Josh Bell will get the starting nod at designated hitter in Pederson's stead.

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: On bench Sunday
Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
It's the second straight game on the bench against a right-handed starter (Taj Bradley), as Manzardo has gone 4-for-23 with nine strikeouts over his past nine contests. Jose Ramirez is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Daniel Schneemann starts at third base.
