Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Angels' Jorge Soler: Idle Friday
Soler isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Arizona, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports.
Currently enjoying a four-game hitting streak, Soler will get a chance to rest Friday against Ryne Nelson and the D-backs. Gustavo Campero will start in right field as a result and bat ninth.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: On bench again Friday
Stanton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs
It's the second straight game on the bench for Stanton, though he did come off the bench Thursday and deliver a pinch-hit, two-run homer. There's been no injury reported for the veteran slugger, so it's likely just a couple straight days of rest after he started the previous three games. Ben Rice is batting cleanup as the designated hitter Friday.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
Eloy Jimenez: Cut loose by Rays
The Rays released Jimenez on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jimenez has been in the Rays' minor-league system for the entirety of the 2025 campaign, and he's slashed .278/.335/.397 in 167 plate appearances with Triple-A Durham. However, the veteran outfielder has been released and will hit the open market, where he should command some interest from teams willing to take a flier.

Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT
Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Taking seat Friday
Ozuna isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.
Ozuna will grab a seat on the bench for Friday's series opener after going 2-for-11 with a home run in three games against the A's. Sean Murphy will fill in as Atlanta's designated hitter and bat fourth.

Jared Young 1B | NYM
Mets' Jared Young: Back with Mets
The Mets recalled Young from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
Young will take Jesse Winker's (back) spot on the active roster as Winker heads to the injured list. It'll be Young's second MLB stint of the campaign. He slashed .171/.227/.415 with three home runs in 44 plate appearances during his previous term with New York. Mark Vientos is likely to take over as New York's primary DH, leaving opportunities for Young to mix in at the corner infield positions as well as the DH spot.

Jesse Winker DH | NYM
Mets' Jesse Winker: Hits IL
The Mets placed Winker on the 10-day injured list Friday due to back inflammation.
Winker exited Thursday's game with back tightness and headed to New York to undergo further testing, which revealed inflammation severe enough to warrant an IL stint. Winker has been serving as the Mets' primary DH, a role that could be handed to Mark Vientos in the short term. Jared Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

Gavin Sheets 1B | SD
Padres' Gavin Sheets: Perfect at plate in win
Sheets went 3-for-3 with a walk and one run scored in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
Sheets hit out of the cleanup spot for the third game in a row, and this one was notable as it came against Arizona lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. The change to the Padres' batting order has been against all pitchers recently as manager Mike Shildt looks to spark a slumping Jackson Merrill. Sheets has certainly earned a prolific spot in the lineup -- he's batting .295 over his last 30 games, though he has a relatively modest 10 extra-base hits in that span. For the season, the veteran outfielder has a .269/.328/.456 slash line, 14 home runs, 50 RBI, 35 runs scored, 14 doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 90 contests. His move to San Diego for 2025 has paid off as he tracks toward a career year nearly across the board.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Delivers two-run shot off bench
Stanton hit a two-run home run in his lone at-bat during Thursday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle.
Stanton entered as a pinch hitter, drawing the Yankees closer and making it a 5-3 game in the eighth inning. The veteran slugger is operating strictly as a designated hitter after opening the season on the injured list, and he'll likely continue to battle with the likes of Jasson Dominguez, Ben Rice and Paul Goldschmidt for playing time in New York's star-studded lineup. Stanton is slashing a decent .254/.338/.429 with three homers, two doubles and 13 RBI over his first 71 plate appearances.

Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM
Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Cracks three-run homer in loss
Polanco went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Yankees.
Polanco, who has now posted at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, is starting heat up in the power department. The veteran infielder has now smashed three homers over his first 29 at-bats of the month of July. Over his last 58 plate appearances (14 games), Polanco is also slashing an effective .240/.345/.500 with four doubles, seven RBI, seven walks and seven runs scored.
