Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen singled in the first, homered in the fourth, doubled in the seventh and singled in the ninth Saturday against the Reds.

His solo home run in the fourth was his third homer in his last four games. Eleven of his 12 homers have been solo shots. He finished 4 for 5 with a run and RBI in a 5-4 loss.

McCutchen is hitting .500 (8 of 16) with three homers and four RBI over his last four games. He has a .310/.383/.494 line with 12 homers and 51 RBI in 352 at-bats.

Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is out of the starting lineup for the second straight game Saturday. He was scratched Friday with wrist soreness after experiencing discomfort in batting practice.

He remains day-to-day with the wrist injury, which manager Bob Melvin doesn't think is related to Cespedes' performance in Monday's Home Run Derby.

Melvin said he doesn't think Cespedes' wrist injury is related to his Home Run Derby performance. Cespedes first felt some discomfort during batting practice prior to the game. The 27-year-old is hitting .225 with 15 homers and 43 RBI.

Mariners shortstop Brad Miller had a monster night at the plate as he homered twice and drove in a career-high five runs during Friday's contest against the Astros.

Miller launched a two-run home run in the sixth and a three-run home run in the eighth. He added a single and finished 3 for 5 with a walk, two runs scored and five RBI in a 10-7 victory.

Miller became the first player in franchise history to have two games with four-plus RBI in his first 17 career games. He is hitting .273 with two homers and 12 RBI in 66 at-bats.

Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen went 1 for 3 with a walk and his 11th home run in his team's 5-3 loss to the Reds Friday. It was his third straight game with an extra-base hit after homering Saturday and doubling Sunday heading into the All-Star break.

McCutchen owns a .303/.378/.478 line with 11 home runs, 50 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 347 at-bats.

Fresh off a Home Run Derby title, Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was scratched from Friday's game against the Angels due to left wrist soreness.

The A's have not given any details on how Cespedes sustained the injury. The 27-year-old is hitting .225 with 15 homers and 43 RBI. He has been held without a home run since June 21, a span of 71 at-bats.

Mets first baseman Justin Turner is expected to rejoin the team from the disabled list Monday after he moved his rehab assignment to Class A Brooklyn Friday.

Turner appears ready to return, but manager Terry Collins told MLB.com he wanted to make sure the team had enough pitching depth to get through a weekend series against the Phillies.

"We wanted to protect ourselves first coming out of the break," Collins said. "We have run out of pitching so much. We've worn our bullpen down so bad."

Turner has been able to play full games in the field as part of his recovery from an intercostal strain that put him on the disabled list in the middle of June.

Turner is 3 for 6 in two games at the level, with three singles. He's hoping to be activated this weekend, and could return Friday. Turner was hitting .266/.307/.330 in 94 at-bats in the majors. 

Mariners shortstop Brad Miller went just 3 for 17 (.176) in the last four games leading into the All-Star break, including six strikeouts, to lower his batting line to .246/.324./.393. Strikeouts have been an issue for Miller thus far in the major leagues, as he has whiffed 16 times in 68 plate appearances (23.5 percent). 

One of the biggest issues for prospects coming up to the major leagues is making contact with the advanced breaking balls major-league pitchers possess in comparison to their minor-league brethren. According to Brooks Baseball, Miller has swung and missed at less than 10 percent of all fastballs (including cutters), but he is well over 10 percent on every other pitch type, including over 20 percent on sliders. If he is to hit for average like he did in the minors -- no stint worse than .294 -- he'll have to show an ability to adjust to the slow stuff.
