Tigers' Brendan White: Likely to be recalled

White has joined the Tigers in Detroit, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The Tigers could use a fresh bullpen arm, so it sounds like White will be recalled prior to Tuesday's game against Atlanta. White was up briefly with the big club earlier this season but didn't make an appearance. When he does get into a game, it will be his major-league debut.

  • Cody Bradford RP | TEX

Rangers' Cody Bradford: Confirmed to start Tuesday

Bradford will be promoted from Triple-A Round Rock to start for the Rangers on Tuesday versus the Angels at Globe Life Field.

He's stepping into the rotation in place of Jon Gray (finger), who will have to miss at least one start while he tends to a blister. Bradford threw 99 pitches over eight innings for Round Rock this past Friday, so he figures to be relatively limited from a pitch-count perspective while he takes the hill on three days' rest rather than the typical four. Owen White will also be called up from Double-A Frisco to provide length out of the bullpen.

  • Owen White RP | CHW

Rangers' Owen White: Coming up from Double-A

White will be recalled by the Rangers prior to Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ken Rosenthal and Sam Blum of The Athletic report.

White will be available out of the bullpen, with Cody Bradford slated to start in place of Jon Gray (blister). White, 23, has posted a 3.54 ERA and 45:22 K:BB over 53.1 innings covering 11 starts with Double-A Frisco this season. He was added to Texas' 40-man roster over the offseason and will be making his major-league debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • Wyatt Mills RP | LAD

Red Sox's Wyatt Mills: Suffers another setback

Mills' scheduled live batting practice session on June 9 was canceled due to continued soreness in his right elbow, MLB.com reports.

"He wasn't feeling great, and he will be down a few days," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. Mills has been out all season with right elbow inflammation and this is the second setback he's experienced. He should be considered out indefinitely.

  • Red Sox's John Schreiber: Resumes throwing

Schreiber (shoulder) threw up to 75 feet on June 9, MLB.com reports.

Schreiber will continue with a daily progression of flat-ground work until he is cleared to throw off a mound. He has been sidelined for nearly a month with a right teres major strain and looks to be at least a couple weeks away from a return.

  • Royals' Carlos Hernandez: Takes extra-inning loss

Hernandez (0-4) allowed an unearned run in one inning to take the extra-inning loss Monday versus the Reds.

The Reds were able to play small ball to scrape home a run against Hernandez, and the Royals couldn't match it in the bottom of the 10th. He's seen time both as a traditional reliever and an opening pitcher lately, but the results haven't been all that good -- he has a 5.40 ERA and 0.90 WHIP over 13.1 innings across his last 10 appearances, which includes four turns as an opener. For the season, he's posted a 4.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 42:9 K:BB across 33.1 innings. Hernandez's opening appearances have typically come in front of Mike Mayers, who is lined up to pitch again over the weekend versus the Angels.

  • Beau Brieske RP | DET

Tigers' Beau Brieske: Works in relief in rehab outing

Brieske (elbow) tossed a no-hit scoreless inning out of the bullpen in his most recent rehab outing Saturday with High-A West Michigan, issuing one walk in a 17-pitch appearance.

Though he was a full-time starter in the minors and majors in 2021 and 2022, Brieske has now made a pair of one-inning appearances in both of his first two rehab outings as he works his way back from the hydrodissection procedure he underwent in April to treat a nerve issue in his right elbow. The Tigers haven't clarified that they intend to bring Brieske back from the 60-day injured list as a reliever, but with rehabbing starters Tarik Skubal (elbow) and Matt Manning (foot) both on similar timelines for activation, Detroit might not have room in the rotation for Brieske anyway.

  • Zach Jackson RP | ATH

Athletics' Zach Jackson: To begin throwing next week

Jackson (elbow) has apparently reached the point where he is pain-free and will begin throwing next week, the team's official site reports.

The right-hander's right flexor tendon strain has been slow to improve, but Jackson is now on the precipice of a throwing program. The 28-year-old could be ready to head out on a rehab assignment by the end of the month if he remains free of setbacks.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | TEX

Rays' Jalen Beeks: Slated to open Tuesday's game

Beeks is listed as the Rays' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Athletics.

Though the team hasn't confirmed as much, Yonny Chirinos is likely to operate as a bulk reliever behind Beeks, who will be making his seventh start of the season. In his previous six starts, Beeks has covered between 1.2 and three innings on each occasion while pitching to a cumulative 2.13 ERA and 1.03 WHIP.

  • Alex Lange RP | KC

Tigers' Alex Lange: Picks up fourth win

Lange (4-2) tossed a scoreless 10th inning and earned a win over Atlanta on Monday.

Lange needed just four pitches to work a clean inning and earned the win after Detroit walked off in the 10th. He was crushed with seven runs over his previous three outings but clearly the Tigers still trust him in a late-inning role. He's sporting a 3.29 ERA and 37:14 K:BB through 28 appearances.
