Liam Hendriks RP | MIN
White Sox's Liam Hendriks: Placed on IL with elbow issue
Chicago placed Hendriks on the 15-day injured list Sunday with right elbow inflammation, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hendricks will miss at least two weeks while he recovers from the injury, although elbow injuries to pitchers often require a longer stay on the IL than that minimum amount of time. The right-hander has registered a 5.40 ERA with one save over five appearances since returning to the White Sox after completing treatment for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Tanner Banks was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Hendriks on the 26-man active roster, but it's likely that Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly see most of the save chances for the White Sox while Hendriks is on the IL.

Bowden Francis RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Bowden Francis: Sent to Buffalo
Toronto optioned Francis to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Francis provided 2.2 innings of relief in Saturday's loss to the Twins, and since he likely wouldn't be available for the next few days, the Blue Jays recalled a fresh arm in Thomas Hatch from Buffalo to take his place on the roster. The 27-year-old Francis should settle back into a spot in the Buffalo rotation upon returning to the minors.

Thomas Hatch RP | ARI
Blue Jays' Thomas Hatch: Added to MLB roster
Toronto recalled Hatch from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Hatch will provide a fresh arm for the Toronto bullpen. The 28-year-old has made two scoreless appearances for the Blue Jays in 2023 with a 3:1 K:BB over 1.1 innings of work. Bowden Francis was optioned back to Durham in the corresponding transaction.

Jose Lopez RP | TB
Rays' Jose Lopez: Sent back to Triple-A
Tampa Bay optioned Lopez to Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Lopez will head back to the minors after he made his MLB debut in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Rangers, striking out two while allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk over two innings. The Rays will replace Lopez on the 26-man active roster with a fresh arm in right-hander Ryan Thompson, who was called up from Durham in a corresponding move.

Matt Gage RP | SF
Astros' Matt Gage: Called up from Triple-A
Houston recalled Gage from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
Gage takes the place of fellow reliever Ryne Stanek (personal), who was placed on the family medical emergency list Saturday. In four relief innings with Houston earlier in the season, Gage allowed a pair of earned runs. He's likely a mid-to-late-inning option for the big club while he's on the roster.

Tim Herrin RP | CLE
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Sent to Columbus
Cleveland optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Herrin was removed from the 26-man active roster to make room for Cody Morris after Morris was activated off the 60-day injured list by the Guardians on Sunday. Herrin was with the club for only a day as he was recalled by Cleveland prior to Saturday's affair, and he'll likely be up and down for the Guardians throughout the 2023 campaign.

Cody Morris RP | NYY
Guardians' Cody Morris: Returns from 60-day IL
The Guardians reinstated Morris (lat) from the 60-day injured list Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Morris opened the season on the IL with a right teres major strain but will now get the chance to make his 2023 MLB debut after he recently completed a four-appearance rehab assignment between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. Though the 26-year-old right-hander was expected to contend for a starting role with the Guardians before suffering the injury, he'll work out of the bullpen for now, with Cleveland's rotation currently being full. Morris built up to three innings in his most recent rehab outing with Columbus and will give the Guardians a multi-inning weapon out of the bullpen.

Will Vest RP | DET
Tigers' Will Vest: Opening Sunday's contest
Vest will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Vest hasn't recorded more than six outs in any of his 20 appearances on the season, so he's unlikely to work more than once through the order before giving way to Joey Wentz, who will work as a bulk reliever in his normal turn through the rotation. The 28-year-old Vest will be making his first start of the season and the third of his MLB career.

Mike Mayers RP | TOR
Royals' Mike Mayers: Set to work in bulk relief
Mayers is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Carlos Hernandez in Sunday's game in Baltimore, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Hernandez isn't expected to work more than an inning or two before giving way to Mayers, who is working behind an opener for the third game in a row. Since joining the rotation in late May, Mayers has gone 1-1 with a 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB across 13.2 innings in three appearances (one start).

Ryan Pressly RP | CHC
Astros' Ryan Pressly: Rebounds to notch save
Pressly earned a save over the Guardians on Saturday, allowing an unearned run on one hit while striking out one batter over one inning.
Pressly blew a save opportunity against Cleveland on Friday, but he got right back on his feet with a save one day later. The Astros gave him a three-run ninth-inning cushion to work with Saturday, but things got interesting when Steven Kwan opened with an infield single and the next batter reached base via an error. Pressly then got Jose Ramirez -- who homered four times over the previous two games -- to line out before retiring the final two batters to close out the contest. Pressly has struggled a bit of late with two blown saves and four runs (three earned) over his past five appearances, but he's 12-for-14 in save chances on the season and in no immediate danger of losing his closing role.
