  • Trey Wingenter RP | CHC

Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Beginning assignment Saturday

Wingenter (biceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

It's unclear how many appearances the Tigers want to give Wingenter before returning him from the 60-day injured list, but the 29-year-old righty looks on track to return to Detroit's bullpen before the end of June. Wingenter landed on the injured list April 22 with right biceps tendinitis and was transferred to the 60-day IL at the end of May.

  • Josh Winder RP | ARI

Twins' Josh Winder: Recalled from Triple-A

Winder was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Winder made one appearance for the Twins back in late April but has spent the bulk of the year with St. Paul, holding a 6.52 ERA and 20:13 K:BB over 19.1 innings. The righty's full-time move to relief this season hasn't gone terribly well and he figures to be used in low-leverage situations.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Twins' Caleb Thielbar: Headed back to IL

Thielbar was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right oblique strain, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Thielbar returned from the same injury this past weekend and made just one appearance before evidently suffering a setback. He missed more than a month with the issue the first time around. Josh Winder is taking Thielbar's spot in the bullpen.

  • Mitch White RP | MIL

Blue Jays' Mitch White: Reinstated from IL

White (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday.

White has been on the shelf all season due to a right shoulder impingement and was pulled off his rehab assignment May 19 because of fatigue in the same shoulder. Now that he's officially off the injured list, he will likely join the Jays' bullpen in a multi-inning relief role. White logged a 7.74 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 43 innings with Toronto last season.

  • Anthony Bass RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Anthony Bass: Designated for assignment

Bass was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Friday.

Bass has put up a 4.95 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB over 20 relief innings with the Jays this season. He also was recently reprimanded, although not suspended, after sharing an anti-LGBTQIA+ video on social media. Bass will now go through the waiver process.

  • Nick Vespi RP | PHI

Orioles' Nick Vespi: Recalled from Triple-A

Vespi was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Vespi was up with the big club briefly last month but didn't make an appearance. He's posted an impressive 1.77 ERA and 21:5 K:BB over 20.1 relief innings with Norfolk this season.

  • Orioles' Bruce Zimmermann: Optioned to Triple-A

Zimmermann was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Zimmermann threw 61 pitches over three innings of relief Wednesday versus the Brewers, so he'll be replaced by a fresh arm. Nick Vespi will take his spot in the bullpen.

  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Records 16th save

Estevez picked up the save in Thursday's 3-1 victory over the Cubs. He struck out one over a perfect inning.

Estevez is now tied for third in the league in saves with 16. The right-hander also hasn't blown a save this year, and he's the only relief pitcher to not blow a save in at least 16 opportunities. The veteran is enjoying his first season away from Coors Field, posting a 1.32 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 35:11 K:BB through 27.1 innings.

  • Jordan Romano RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Notches 17th save

Romano picked up the save in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Astros. He struck out one over a perfect inning.

Romano now ranks second in the league in saves with 17. The right-hander is also on a hot streak, allowing just one run over his last seven appearances with an 8:1 K:BB. He has proven himself to be one of the better options at closer, and on the season Romano has a 2.77 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through 26 innings.

  • Clay Holmes RP | NYM

Yankees' Clay Holmes: Notches seventh save

Holmes earned a save over the White Sox in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader, allowing one walk in a scoreless inning.

Holmes was tasked with preserving the Yankees' combined shutout and succeeded in doing so despite issuing a leadoff walk. The righty reliever has allowed just one run over 16.1 frames across his past 16 appearances, posting a 20:8 K:BB over that span. The strong stretch has helped him reclaim the primary closer role for New York -- he's earned three of the team's last four saves after going without any saves between April 12 and May 20.
