  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Set to undergo MRI

Fairbanks will undergo an MRI on his left hip, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Fairbanks was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with left hip inflammation, but that was just an initial diagnosis and more will be known Tuesday following testing. Jason Adam will be the Rays' primary closer option while Fairbanks is on the shelf.

  • Blue Jays' Trevor Richards: Collects third hold

Richards walked one and struck out three in a scoreless inning of relief Sunday to record his third hold of the season in a win over the Twins.

He took the ball from Jose Berrios with two outs in the sixth inning before passing the baton to Erik Swanson in the seventh, as the Blue Jays staff tossed a combined five-hit shutout. Richards' plus-plus changeup has been dancing this season, and the 30-year-old righty has fanned multiple batters in 10 of his last 11 appearances, producing a 3.24 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB through 16.2 innings over that stretch.

  • Xzavion Curry RP | MIA

Guardians' Xzavion Curry: Snags first win

Curry (1-0) allowed two hits over three scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday over the Cardinals.

Curry has made six relief appearances in May, four of which have exceeded one inning. He kept the game close Sunday before Jose Ramirez walked it off with a two-run double. A starter in the minors, Curry has excelled in a long-relief role this season with a 2.22 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB over 28.1 innings. With an upcoming logjam in the Guardians' rotation with injury returns, it's possible Curry could be sent back to Triple-A Columbus despite his recent success in the majors.

  • Tayler Saucedo RP | LAA

Mariners' Tayler Saucedo: Notches second win Sunday

Saucedo (2-0) got the extra-inning win over the Pirates on Sunday, allowing a hit and a walk over a scoreless 10th inning while striking out the side.

Saucedo was tasked with preserving a 3-3 tie and deftly worked around a Bryan Reynolds leadoff single by ringing up Connor Joe, Jack Suwinski and Ke'Bryan Hayes. The 29-year-old southpaw has been an effective bullpen option for manager Scott Servais, allowing just a single earned run across 11 innings over 12 appearances while producing an 11.5 K/9 and elite 19.9 percent swinging strike rate.

  • Austin Voth RP | TOR

Orioles' Austin Voth: Joining rotation Wednesday

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Voth will either start or serve as a bulk reliever in Wednesday's game versus the Guardians, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

The rotation spot had previously been occupied by Grayson Rodriguez, who was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk over the weekend. All 18 of Voth's appearances this season have been in relief, although he has plenty of past starting experience and went 3.2 innings in his last outing May 26.

  • Trevor Kelley RP | SEA

Rays' Trevor Kelley: Summoned from Triple-A

The Rays recalled Kelley from Triple-A Durham on Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Kelley was just optioned Sunday but is back one day later to replace Pete Fairbanks (hip), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. He's posted a 5.40 ERA and 5:3 K:BB over 10 innings with the Rays this season.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

White Sox's Joe Kelly: Blows save Sunday

Kelly blew the save Sunday against the Tigers, allowing one run on one hit during the ninth inning. He struck out two and did not issue a walk.

Kendall Graveman operated as the setup man Sunday, allowing Kelly to earn a save chance, but the latter couldn't secure the win as Javier Baez tied the game in the ninth with an RBI groundout after Riley Greene ripped a one-out triple. Kelly made two appearances during the four-game series against the Tigers and allowed four runs across 1.1 innings. He now holds an ugly 4.60 ERA and has blown three of his four save chances, but his 0.89 WHIP and 21:1 K:BB over 15.2 innings are encouraging. Either way, Kelly isn't expected to get too many more opportunities as a closer with Liam Hendriks (illness) likely returning to the bullpen Monday.

  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Back to IL with hip issue

The Rays placed Fairbanks on the 15-day injured list Monday with left hip inflammation, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

The move is retroactive to May 28, leaving Fairbanks eligible for activation June 12. It's unclear at this point whether he will be ready at that time, however. With Fairbanks on the IL for the second time this month, Jason Adam will move to the top of the Rays' bullpen pecking order.

  • Cody Bradford RP | TEX

Rangers' Cody Bradford: Shipped to Triple-A

Bradford was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Bradford produced a strong outing Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings in a spot start versus the Orioles. With Dane Dunning (personal) due back from the paternity list and set to reclaim his spot in the Texas rotation Wednesday, Bradford will now head back to Round Rock, where he has compiled a sparkling 0.99 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 45.1 innings in eight starts. Grant Anderson had his contract selected from Triple-A on Monday and will replace Bradford on the major-league roster.

  • Cody Bradford RP | TEX

    Rangers' Cody Bradford: Shows improvement

Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Bradford showed better command in Sunday's start, his second in the majors, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. "He had the changeup going, and I thought his breaking ball was better too," the manager said.

Bradford bounced back from a rough introduction to the majors May 15 and arguably could have had a better result Sunday. He allowed two runs in the first inning, which included pop-up single by Cedric Mullins that had an expected batting average of .030. Bradford showed mettle in putting that inning behind him and retired the 13 of the final 15 batters.
