  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Astros' Josh Hader: Nails down 28th save

Hader picked up the save in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Nationals, striking out the side in a perfect ninth inning.

The All-Star southpaw dispatched the Nationals, with nine of his 13 pitches landing for strikes. The three strikeouts were Hader's most since May 28 versus the Athletics, and he's tallied multiple punchouts in seven of his last nine outings. For the season, he owns a 2.22 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 73:13 K:BB while converting 28 of his 29 save chances over 48.2 frames.

  • Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Secures one-out save

Chapman struck out the only batter he faced and earned a save against Minnesota on Tuesday.

Chapman made his first appearance since dealing with back tightness against the Dodgers on Sunday. He showed no signs of injury in Tuesday's short outing; the veteran southpaw struck out Mickey Gasper on three pitches, ending with a 101 mph sinker. Chapman owns an outstanding 1.29 ERA and 62:13 K:BB through 42 frames. He's converted 19 of his 21 save chances this season.

  • Kolby Allard RP | CLE

Guardians' Kolby Allard: Starting bullpen game Wednesday

Allard will start Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Allard has been enjoying a career season in 2025, posting a 2.83 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 41.1 innings in 21 appearances (one start). The 27-year-old southpaw had started in all four of his appearances for Triple-A Columbus prior to being recalled July 9, but since he hasn't covered more than three innings in an appearance since late May, he's unlikely to work deep enough into Wednesday's game to qualify for a win.

  • Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Available Tuesday

Manager Alex Cora said Chapman (back) is available to pitch Tuesday against the Twins, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The veteran left-hander was unavailable for Monday after exiting Sunday's game due to back tightness, but he's been cleared to take the mound after playing catch prior to Tuesday's contest. Chapman has surrendered just one earned run in his past 22 appearances, and he's converted 10 of 11 save chances with a 33:5 K:BB during that stretch.

  • Orioles' Yaramil Hiraldo: Relegated to Double-A

The Orioles optioned Hiraldo to Double-A Chesapeake on Tuesday.

Hiraldo gave up one run in 2.0 innings during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, but he'll end up back in the minors. Elvin Rodriguez was called up from Double-A in a corresponding move.

  • Orioles' Elvin Rodriguez: Up from minors

The Orioles recalled Rodriguez from Double-A Chesapeake on Tuesday.

Rodriguez has thrown 2.2 innings of one-run ball with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate since joining the organization in mid-July. He'll now join the big-league bullpen for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, though he will almost certainly be limited to low-leverage outings after turning in an 8.68 ERA in 18.2 innings with the Brewers. Yaramil Hiraldo was optioned to Double-A in a corresponding move.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Blue Jays designated Green for assignment Tuesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Green will end up as the odd man out of a spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters in Toronto following the acquisition of Seranthony Dominguez from Baltimore on Tuesday. Green has regressed considerably from last season, posting a 4.85 ERA and 1.41 WHIP alongside a 34:13 K:BB through 42.2 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Seranthony Dominguez: Traded to Blue Jays

The Blue Jays acquired Dominguez from the Orioles in exchange for Juaron Watts-Brown between games of Tuesday's doubleheader in Baltimore, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

It ordinarily takes a couple days for a new player to join their new team, but Dominguez will be able to simply swap clubhouses in the middle of Tuesday's twin bill. The right-hander was expected to be in the mix for saves in Baltimore with Felix Bautista (shoulder) on the IL, but he should fill a setup role for Toronto. Dominguez has a 3.24 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season.

  • Paxton Schultz RP | WAS

Blue Jays' Paxton Schultz: Activated from IL

The Blue Jays reinstated Schultz (finger) from the 15-day injured list after Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The right-hander landed on the shelf about a month ago due to finger inflammation but will rejoin the Blue Jays after a two-game rehab assignment. Schultz will provide Toronto with some much-needed bullpen depth after a 16-4 loss in Tuesday's matinee.

  • Thomas Hatch RP | ARI

    Royals' Thomas Hatch: Contract selected

The Royals selected Hatch's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Hatch will give the Royals bullpen some length after starter Rich Hill lasted just four innings in Monday's loss to Atlanta. The righty is also a candidate to start later this week after Hill was removed from the 40-man roster Tuesday. Hatch holds a 4.22 ERA and 78:28 K:BB over 91.2 innings covering 18 starts with Omaha in 2025.
