  • Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Likely out through All-Star break

Crochet clarified Friday that his lat strain is asymptomatic, but his shoulder is taking longer than expected to recover, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports. The left-hander also said he doesn't expect to come off the injured list until after the All-Star break.

Crochet said earlier in the week that the lat low-grade lat strain he sustained in early June was "a lot worse" that initially believed, but he clarified Friday that he was actually referring to the shoulder inflammation that sent him to the IL in late April. The 26-year-old continues to work his way back from the latter injury and could start up a throwing program soon, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, but he'll need significant time to build up his arm before rejoining Boston's rotation.

  • Jordan Hicks RP | CHW

White Sox's Jordan Hicks: Cleared for rehab assignment

Hicks (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Hicks went down with a right lat strain three weeks ago but has improved enough that he's ready to test things out in a game setting. As long as he doesn't encounter any bumps in the road, Hicks should rejoin the White Sox's bullpen sometime next week. He's collected a 5.60 ERA and 15:17 K:BB over 17.2 innings for Chicago this season.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Entering rotation Friday

Aldegheri will start Friday's home game against the Rays, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

After the southpaw was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, the Angels initially made him available out of the bullpen. Aldegheri made a one-inning, eight-pitch appearance in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Astros but hasn't worked since, so he'll be ready to step into the vacant fifth spot in the rotation. With Jack Kochanowicz (elbow) headed for season-ending Tommy John surgery, Aldegheri should have a clear path to a permanent spot if he performs well. The 24-year-old has permitted three runs on 11 hits and five walks while striking out eight batters over 12 innings at the big-league level this season but posted an unsightly 7.24 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 32:23 K:BB across 46 frames at Triple-A.

  • Orioles' Andrew Kittredge: Converts first save

Kittredge threw a scoreless and hitless inning without striking out or walking a batter to earn the save in Thursday's 7-5 win over the Mariners.

One runner reached base on an error, but Kittredge was able to settle in and lock it down. He needed just six pitches in total, getting three groundouts. He's been a little spotty this season, allowing at least one run in seven of his 17 appearances, but it's a seven-run meltdown from May 3 versus the Yankees that has skewed his ratios. He's at a 6.75 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB with a save, two holds and a blown save across 14.2 innings this season. The right-hander is the fifth pitcher to log a save for Baltimore this season, though Kittredge will likely be limited to a setup role once Ryan Helsley (elbow) comes off the injured list.

  • Matt Brash RP | SEA

Mariners' Matt Brash: Facing extended absence

Brash has returned to Seattle to have his right lat strain evaluated further, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Brash missed most of May with a strained lat and then went back on the 15-day injured list Wednesday after aggravating the injury. More should be known about a timetable once he's looked at by doctors in Seattle, but manager Dan Wilson acknowledged Thursday that there is "going to be a little bit more time down" for Brash during this second IL stint.

  • Codi Heuer RP | CLE

Guardians' Codi Heuer: Optioned to Columbus

The Guardians optioned Heuer to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Heuer has given up four earned runs in just 5.1 innings since coming up from Triple-A on May 25, and his struggles will now officially cost him his spot in the Guardians' bullpen. His replacement will be announced ahead of Friday's series opener against Detroit.

  • Mariners' Domingo Gonzalez: DFA'd by Mariners

The Mariners designated Gonzalez for assignment Thursday.

Gonzalez was added to the Mariners' bullpen Wednesday, but he'll now lose his spot after giving up four earned runs over two innings against the Orioles. Michael Rucker was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move.

  • Michael Rucker RP | SEA

Mariners' Michael Rucker: Selected from Tacoma

The Mariners selected Rucker's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.

Rucker will return to the majors for the first time since 2023 after posting a 1.59 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 22.2 innings at Tacoma. He'll take the place of Domingo Gonzalez, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Angel Chivilli RP | NYY

Yankees' Angel Chivilli: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Yankees activated Chivilli (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Chivilli has put his shoulder issue behind him, but he will remain at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he began a rehab assignment Wednesday. The 23-year-old made two relief appearances for the Yankees earlier this season, allowing one run with a 3:3 K:BB over 2.1 innings.

  • Luis Curvelo RP | TEX

Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Back in Rangers' bullpen

The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Curvelo was just sent down Sunday, but he's back to replace the injured Jalen Beeks (back). The right-handed Curvelo has made seven appearances out of the Texas bullpen this season, logging a 4.91 ERA and 4:2 K:BB over 7.1 frames.
