Duran picked up the save in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Astros. He struck out the only batter he faced.

After the Twins scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 9-4, Jovani Moran gave two back in the top of the ninth to turn it back into a save situation for Minnesota. Duran got the call and was up to the task, striking out Yainer Diaz on three pitches. Jorge Lopez pitched the seventh inning Saturday as the first arm out of the bullpen in relief of starter Joe Ryan. Duran now has two saves this season to Lopez's one.

Chapman picked up the save Saturday against the Giants while striking out two over a perfect inning.

That's the first save of the year for Chapman, and the first he's picked up as a member of the Royals. The left-hander has appeared in four games thus far in 2023, and he's struck out eight hitters over his four innings without allowing a run. It's early, but Chapman looks like the version that made him one of the best closers in baseball not too long ago. It's worth noting that teammate Scott Barlow closed out the Royals' win one day earlier.

Fujinami (0-2) took the loss Saturday, allowing five runs on three hits and four walks with one strikeout over 4.1 innings against Tampa Bay.

The first three innings went well for Fujinami as he kept the red-hot Rays lineup off the board. Things fell apart from there, as he gave up a two-run single to Isaac Paredes in the fourth and a two-run single in the fifth to Randy Arozarena. Another run was charged to him after he left in the fifth. It has not been an impressive first two outings for the right-handed rookie, and he's now the owner of a 17.55 ERA and 2.25 WHIP over his 6.2 innings of work. He's tentatively scheduled for another challenging task next weekend against the Mets.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters before Saturday's game against the Orioles that Loaisiga (elbow) won't resume throwing for a few weeks, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Boone also told reporters that Loaisiga has swelling in his joint and received an injection, but there's no structural damage. The right-hander will likely need a rehab assignment once cleared to throw, and he probably won't be able to help the New York bullpen until the start of May at the earliest.

Zimmermann will miss a turn through Triple-A Norfolk's starting rotation after he received stitches on his right thumb Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The laceration and stitches are on his non-throwing hand, so the left-hander may not require a trip to the injured list. Zimmermann has made one appearance for Norfolk this year and allowed two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and a walk over 4.2 innings.

Kahnle (biceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

The right-hander recently resumed playing catch after being shut down from throwing for a few weeks, but he now won't be eligible to return from the injured list until the end of May. Kahnle received a cortisone injection to address tendinitis in his right biceps March 21.

Loaisiga was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to April 6, with right elbow inflammation.

The 28-year-old presumably picked up the injury during his last appearance Wednesday versus Philadelphia, when he allowed a run on two hits over 1.2 innings. The severity of the injury isn't known, but the fact it's an elbow issue makes it seem unlikely Loaisiga is ticketed for a minimum-length stay on the shelf.

Murfee (1-1) recorded the win Friday against the Guardians, firing a scoreless fifth inning during which he issued a walk.

Murfee needed just 11 pitches, seven of which found the strike zone, to get through his one frame following a four-inning start from Logan Gilbert. Murfee has been busy early in the new season, with Friday's outing already marking his fifth appearance of the campaign. Murfee's ERA remains unblemished, and the one hit he allowed to the Guardians in his first outing of the season March 31 is the only one he's conceded through 4.1 frames.

Perez (1-0) allowed a run on three hits and struck out one over one inning to earn the win Friday over the Yankees.

Perez has had some mixed results through 4.1 innings across four appearances this season. He's struck out five without walking a batter, but he's been tagged for two runs and seven hits. Perez has worked in a high-leverage role as expected, though he's unlikely to challenge Felix Bautista for ninth-inning work.

Romano picked up the save Friday against the Angels without allowing a run or a hit.

While Romano didn't issue a strikeout, that's mostly because the Angels were aggressive and forced the right-hander to throw just six pitches -- five of those for strikes. He is now up to four saves on the young year, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his appearances.
