Bass (2-3) allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk while recording just one out in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

Bass entered with a one-run lead in the ninth inning but gave up a leadoff homer to Xander Bogaerts to tie the game. Bass then walked J.D. Martinez before Christian Vazquez reached on a fielder's choice. Vazquez would cause Bass problems, as the Red Sox catcher stole second and reached third on a throwing error by Blue Jays catcher Caleb Joseph. The collapse was complete when Vazquez scored on a Yairo Munoz fielder's choice. It was Bass's second blown save of the year. He now has a 2.79 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 19.1 innings. The 32-year-old will likely continue as the closer in the near term, but Ken Giles (forearm) will likely assume ninth-inning duties when he returns.

Weber allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Saturday.

The runs against Weber came on a Teoscar Hernandez solo shot in the second inning and a fourth-inning Travis Shaw double. Weber now has a 5.45 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 33 innings this season. It's unclear if the right-hander will get another turn in the rotation.

Tate (1-0) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing a walk and striking out two to earn the win Saturday versus the Yankees.

Tate relieved starter Keegan Akin with one out in the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, the Orioles' offense sparked to life with a five-run rally, and that put Tate in line for his first major-league win. The right-hander has a 2.45 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB across 11 innings this season. He's allowed just two walks over 4.2 scoreless innings in his last three appearances.

Akin pitched 5.1 scoreless innings versus the Yankees on Saturday, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out eight. He did not factor in the decision.

Akin threw 91 pitches (57 strikes) in Saturday's game while locked in a pitchers' duel with Gerrit Cole. Unfortunately for Akin, the Orioles' bats didn't come alive until he was out of the game. He lowered his ERA to 2.08 with a 1.15 WHIP and 15 strikeouts across four appearances (two starts) spanning 13 innings. The 25-year-old lines up for a rematch with the Yankees on Friday in his next start.

Cisnero (1-2) allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk to blow the save and take the loss Saturday against the Twins,

Cisnero started the ninth inning by allowing a walk and a single, putting himself in trouble right away. A Miguel Sano single with one out tied the game at 3-3. Cisnero retired the next batter, but then Byron Buxton hustled out an infield single to bring home the winning run and saddle Cisnero with his first blown save of the season. The 31-year-old still has a solid 2.21 ERA, so he should continue to see some save opportunities, but the Tigers may also turn to Gregory Soto and Buck Farmer depending on matchups, making the Detroit closer situation murky at the moment.

Leclerc (shoulder) was ruled out for the season Saturday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Leclerc had at best an outside chance of returning very late in the year when he was placed on the 45-day injured list with a strained shoulder in late July, and manager Chris Woodward officially ended his chances Sunday. The injury will give the righty plenty of risk heading into the 2021 campaign, though he'll still have the potential to fill a high-leverage role if he's healthy and effective.

Zych is part of the Yankees' taxi squad for their current road trip, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Zych hasn't pitched in the majors since 2017, when he posted a 2.66 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 40.2 innings for Seattle. The right-hander has been working out at New York's alternate training site but could get a chance to contribute to the big-league squad if the need for a bullpen arm arises.

Canterino was added to the Twins' 60-man roster Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Canterino was the Twins' second-round pick in the 2019 first-year player draft, and he'll get to finish the season at the alternate training site for developmental purposes. It's highly unlikely that he'll be considered for a major-league roster spot in 2020.

Fulmer was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Saturday.

Fulmer was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Wednesday after he failed to make an appearance with the team. He's out of major-league options, so he'll join the 28-man roster upon his addition and should play a lower-leverage role in the bullpen.

Phillips was optioned to the Orioles' alternate training site Saturday.

Phillips pitched effectively during his most recent stint with the major-league club as he tossed 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts over three appearances. He'll continue to develop at the alternate training site but could return to the major-league bullpen if injuries occur.
