Giles (forearm) was transferred to the Blue Jays' 45-day injured list Saturday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Giles' move to the 45-day IL is simply procedural as he'll still be eligible to return as early as Sept. 10. The right-hander has made good progress while recovering from a strained flexor mass in his right forearm, although a specific timetable for his return still hasn't been established.

Bummer (biceps) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Saturday.

Bummer will shift to the 45-day IL to clear a spot on the 40-man roster as he deals with a nerve issue near his biceps. The southpaw could still return prior to the end of the season, but his status depends on how the nerve issue responds to his throwing program.

Perez was optioned to the Astros' alternate training site Saturday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Perez allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two over 1.1 innings Friday, and he'll return to alternate camp following the outing. The southpaw pitched effectively with the Astros during his time with the club and could return to the major-league bullpen at some point in 2020.

Peters will serve as the 29th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Astros.

Peters will provide an extra arm for the Angels during Saturday's twin bill but should return to the team's alternate training site following the two games. The southpaw has yet to appear in the majors in 2020.

Abreu was optioned to the Yankees' alternate training site Saturday.

Abreu hasn't seen much action out of the Yankees' bullpen this season as he struggled during two appearances. He'll presumably get more consistent work at alternate camp and could return to the majors in a low-leverage capacity later in the season. Gleyber Torres (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Garcia was returned to the Yankees' alternate training site following Friday's doubleheader.

Garcia was charged with the loss during his start in Friday's nightcap as he allowed four runs over 4.2 innings against the Orioles. He has a 3.38 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 10.2 innings this year and could return to the Yankees' pitching staff at some point this season.

Jimenez (1-3) allowed an unearned run on one hit and took the loss in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Twins.

Jimenez pitched the eighth inning of a 2-2 game, and because it was technically extra innings, Minnesota started the frame with a runner on second. A little seeing-eye single up the middle did Jimenez in, and he didn't get any help from center fielder Derek Hill, who bobbled the ball as he tried to come up firing to home. It's a tough-luck loss for the 25-year-old in a season that's been a disaster of late. Jimenez now has a 10.80 ERA, and he's on the outside looking in at the closer role in Detroit.

Barnes gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless seventh inning Friday to record his fourth save of the season in the second game of a doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

It was his fourth straight scoreless appearance, and the 30-year-old appears to be settling into the closer role for Boston. Since Brandon Workman was traded to Philadelphia, Barnes has converted four of five save chances while posting a 2.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB through 6.1 innings.

Bass struck out one in a perfect seventh inning Friday to record his fifth save of the season during the first game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox.

After going nearly a month without a save, Bass has now picked one up in consecutive appearances. He's been effective however he's been deployed this season, posting a 2.37 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB through 19 innings, but his flexibility will likely bump him from the closer role once Ken Giles (forearm) or Jordan Romano (finger) gets healthy.

Weber will start Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Weber has improved while working out of the bullpen following a shaky beginning to the season as a starter. He last pitched Tuesday when he worked four innings against the Braves. The soft-tossing right-hander is getting a second chance in the rotation.
