The Rangers recalled Gibaut from Triple-A Nashville ahead of Sunday's 11-3 loss to the Mariners. He tossed 1.2 innings in relief, giving up a run on two walks and one hit while striking out a batter.

Texas added four pitchers to the roster ahead of Sunday's bullpen game, with all receiving work in their returns to big club. Though Gibaut wasn't especially impressive against Seattle and has just six appearances on his big-league ledger, the gaudy strikeout rates he's posted in the high minors and in his small sample in the majors makes him one of the more intriguing arms in the beleaguered Texas bullpen.

The Mariners reinstated Adams (lat) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He tossed a scoreless seventh inning in the Mariners' 11-3 win over the Rangers.

Adams struck out two and worked around a base hit and double to lower his ERA to 3.55. The appearance was Adams' first with the Mariners in the second half after a lat strain kept him sidelined for nearly two months. Now that he's healthy again, Adams could gain a foothold in the Mariners' late-inning mix, which has been highly unsettled since Roenis Elias and Hunter Strickland were shipped to Washington on July 31.

The Orioles recalled Scott from Triple-A Norfolk prior to Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Royals.

Scott tallied 23 strikeouts in 17 innings over his 15 appearances with the Orioles earlier this season, but his other ratios (5.29 ERA, 2.18 WHIP) didn't speak well to his performance. Even in AL-only leagues that count holds, Scott seems unlikely to provide much fantasy value down the stretch.

The Orioles reinstated Armstrong (forearm) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He worked 1.1 innings in relief and gave up a run on three hits and a walk.

Armstrong missed the minimum amount of time with the strained right forearm and immediately took back a key role in the Baltimore bullpen. He entered the contest with the Orioles trailing by one run and proceeded to allow a home run to the second batter he faced (Whit Merrifield) but otherwise mitigated the damage.

The Rangers designated Payano for assignment Sunday.

Payano joined the Texas rotation shortly after the All-Star break and was serviceable in his first three turns, giving up seven runs (six earned) in 14.2 innings while striking out 13. Things fell part in his subsequent two turns, as he failed to get through four innings in either start and yielded 10 earned runs. With Payano's numbers at Triple-A Nashville this season (5.44 ERA, 1.70 WHIP in 41.1 innings), the Rangers determined the 24-year-old was no longer worthy of a spot on the 40-man roster. Reliever Edinson Volquez (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

The Tigers recalled Schreiber from Triple-A Toledo prior to Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Twins. He covered 1.2 innings in relief, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out two.

Detroit wasted no time breaking Schreiber back into its relief mix, with the right-hander getting the call from the bullpen in the top of the seventh. After a clean frame, Schreiber ran into trouble in the eighth, allowing four of the six hitters he faced to reach base before David McKay replaced him. Schreiber should get plenty more opportunities for redemption in September as the Tigers look to assess whether he's a viable part of the big-league bullpen in 2020.

Martin (1-3) gave up four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two through 0.2 innings to take the loss against the Mariners on Sunday.

Martin wasn't expected to last long in this bullpen outing, but he allowed three hits and four runs without making it out of the first inning in the loss. Martin hadn't allowed a run in his previous three appearances, so he will likely welcome a return to his bullpen role. The 24-year-old has a 5.17 ERA with 52 strikeouts through 54 innings this season.

The White Sox reinstated Fulmer (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Fulmer is expected to serve as a multi-inning relief option for Chicago in September after he was sidelined for nearly a month with a right hamstring strain. Before getting hurt, Fulmer posted a 5.30 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across 18.2 innings with the big club.

Fairbanks was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Fairbanks makes his return to the big-league club after having been optioned to the Bulls on Aug. 17. The 25-year-old right-hander has generated an ugly 9.31 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across 9.2 innings in the majors this season with the Rangers and Rays, but his triple-digit fastball has led to an eye-popping 70 strikeouts over 43.2 innings across four minor-league stops in 2019.

Milner was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old southpaw made one appearance with the Rays back on Aug. 20, allowing an earned run on two hits and a walk over two innings against the Mariners. He also recorded 12 saves while generating an elite 89:13 K:BB over 61.2 innings with the Bulls, and he's expected to see plenty of opportunities in same-handed matchups down the stretch as the only other lefty in the bullpen besides Colin Poche.
