Romano struck out two batters in a scoreless inning of relief during Wednesday's win over the Orioles.

The right-hander had a hectic offseason, being claimed by the White Sox then traded to the Rangers before being offered back to the Jays when he failed to make the 25-man roster for Texas, but he finally made his big-league debut with his original club. Romano was converted to the bullpen this year at Triple-A Buffalo and had been thriving as the Bisons' closer prior to his promotion, reeling off eight straight scoreless appearances with a 15:2 K:BB over 10.1 innings -- momentum he carried with him to the majors. If he keeps producing results, he could not only hold onto his spot in Toronto when Ken Giles (elbow) comes off the IL, but might work his way into a high-leverage role.

Ramirez (3-0) picked up the win Wednesday against the Royals by tossing two scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and two walks and recorded a pair of strikeouts.

The left-hander came into the sixth inning with the score tied at 2-2 and kept Kansas City's bats quiet enough for Detroit to take the lead for good on a sacrifice fly from Brandon Dixon. Through nine appearances in relief this season, Ramierez owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB.

Diekman (0-3) was charged with the loss against the Tigers on Wednesday after surrendering a run on a hit and a pair of walks over one inning. He struck out two.

The left-hander was asked to preserve a 2-2 tie when he entered in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, he quickly loaded up the bases with a leadoff walk, a double and another free pass, enabling Brandon Dixon to hit a sacrifice fly and score the winning run. Through 31 appearances, Diekman owns a 4.28 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 41:16 K:BB.

Norris lasted five innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six.

Norris held the Royals scoreless until he surrendered doubles to Whit Merrifield and Jorge Soler in the third to even the score at 1-1. He then allowed a trio of singles in the fifth to tie things up once again before exiting the game for good. The 26-year-old has been hustling through a mediocre season for the Tigers, compiling a 4.52 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 54:18 K:BB through 11 starts. He'll take on the Pirates in his next start on Tuesday.

Hudson allowed only one walk and struck out three across 1.1 innings to earn the save Wednesday against the Orioles.

Hudson entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning after a collection of Blue Jays relievers -- including announced temporary closer Joe Biagini -- allowed the Orioles to score six runs. However, he ended the rally quickly, whiffing Hanser Alberto on four pitches. Hudson got off to shaky start in the ninth inning, walking the leadoff batter and hitting the second hitter he faced before recording three straight outs to earn his first save since the 2016 season. Ken Giles (elbow) is only expected to be sidelined for a short time, though Hudson may work his way into the saves picture in the meantime.

Ramirez (3-0) tossed two scoreless innings and earned the win Wednesday against the Royals. He allowed a hit and two walks while striking out two.

Detroit starter Daniel Norris departed after five innings and the score tied 2-2, and Ramirez came in and pitched well in the close game. The 29-year-old earned win No. 3 when the Tigers scored one in the top of the eighth inning. Ramirez has a nice 2.25 ERA in a long-relief role for Detroit, and with the Tigers looking for all the pitching they can get, he figures to maintain a prominent spot in the bullpen.

Chavez (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, giving up a run on two hits and two walks in a third of an inning against the Red Sox.

Chavez hadn't allowed a run since April 30 -- a span of 22.2 innings -- but was unable to locate during the ninth inning Wednesday. He threw just six strikes among his 17 pitches, eventually walking Mookie Betts with the bases loaded. Chavez lowered his ERA from 8.79 to 3.51 during the streak and re-established himself has an important piece in the Rangers' bullpen.

Kittredge is expected to have his contract selected from Triple-A Durham by the Rays on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Kittredge was removed from the 40-man roster this offseason and has responded with a 1.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and impressive 55:6 K:BB over 37.1 innings for the Bulls. The 29-year-old would likely fill a low-leverage role for the Rays, but he could also be utilized as an opener.

Rogers (back) said he expects to be available out of the bullpen Wednesday against the Mariners, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Rogers was unavailable to pitch Tuesday due to a minor back injury, but he should be good to go Wednesday after getting through his usual pregame throwing routine with no issues. In 24 appearances (28 innings) this season, the southpaw owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 37:6 K:BB to go with six saves and nine holds.

Giles was placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation Wednesday.

Giles hadn't been showing any effects of the injury of late, striking out 10 batters over 4.1 scoreless innings in his last four appearances. He does not expect to miss more than the minimum 10 days, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Joe Biagini and Tim Mayza are the top candidates for save chances while Giles remains unavailable. Jordan Romano's contract was purchased in a corresponding move.
