Cordero was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Friday and optioned to Triple-A Charlotte.

Cordero moves on to his fourth organization of the season, having previously spent time in Washington, Toronto and Seattle. He's primarily spent his time in the minors, making just one big-league appearance for the Blue Jays. Carlos Rodon (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Weber was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday.

Weber has made three starts and three relief appearances this season, recording an unimpressive 5.12 ERA in 19.1 innings. He'll make way on the roster for Mitch Moreland (back), who returns from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Smeltzer was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Smeltzer allowed five runs on eight hits over 12.1 innings in two starts since being promoted last week, in what proved to be a solid debut stint in the majors. Michael Pineda (knee) will rejoin the Twins' starting rotation after being activated off the injured list. Smeltzer seems like a prime candidate to rejoin Minnesota if and when the team requires an additional starter later this season.

Mata (shoulder) will be activated off the minor-league injured list to start Friday at High-A Salem, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Mata was expected to return to action in mid-May but ultimately ended up missing a full month with the right shoulder strain. The 20-year-old has a 2.15 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through six starts with Salem this season.

Leclerc was given the night off Thursday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers beat the Orioles, 4-3, and Shawn Kelley nailed down his seventh save while Leclerc looked on from the bullpen. It's unclear if Leclerc would have been given the save chance had he not thrown 26 pitches over two shutout innings the previous night. There was closer speculation brewing after Wednesday's game in which Kelley had blown his second save in five outings, but it appears Rangers manager Chris Woodward will continue to rely on Kelley to close out games.

Sadzeck (elbow) could resume throwing as early as Friday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Sadzeck just went on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to right elbow inflammation, so the news that he might be able to pick up a baseball again three days later is encouraging. If Sadzeck's recovery unfolds without setbacks over the next several days, it's possible he may not need a minor-league rehab assignment before activation.

Rogers allowed a solo home run and recorded three strikeouts across two innings to record his seventh save of the season in Thursday's 5-4 win over Cleveland.

Rogers came on in the eighth with a two-run lead, recording a one-two-three inning to get to the ninth. He then allowed a solo home run to Oscar Mercado but retired the other three hitters he faced to close out the contest. Rogers has allowed four runs across 7.1 innings in his last five appearances, but he still owns a solid 2.25 ERA on the year and has carved out some fantasy value for a surprising Twins team.

Jurado (2-1) allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk across six innings to earn the win Thursday against the Orioles. He struck out six.

Jurado gave up his share of baserunners as he allowed baserunners in three different innings. Fortunately, he limited the O's to just two extra-base hits and walked just one as be battled through six frames for his third consecutive quality start. Jurado owns a sharp 2.78 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP through 23.1 innings, but he will face a tough matchup in his next outing on the road against the Red Sox.

Beeks (5-0) allowed four hits and no walks while striking out two across 4.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the Tigers.

Beeks entered the game in the third inning in relief of opener Ryne Stanek and pitched effectively into the seventh frame. He effectively limited the Tigers' bats, allowing just one extra-base hit and three singles. Beeks has proven effective in a bulk-relief role this season, racking up 45 strikeouts with a 2.76 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 49 innings.

Weber allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out one across 1.1 innings Thursday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Weber worked through the first inning without incident but ran into trouble in the second frame, surrendering four consecutive hits -- including a double and homer -- before being pulled. The Red Sox bullpen picked him up to avoid any further damage, though it's clear the team was willing to grant Weber little latitude to struggle going into he start. With Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) nearing a return from the injured list, Weber's time in the rotation figures to be short. If he gets another turn in the starting five, his next start will likely come Tuesday against Texas.
