Shawaryn may pitch in Thursday's game against the Royals, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.

Manager Alex Cora tabbed Ryan Weber to start Thursday in what could amount to a bullpen game. "Most likely Weber but we'll see," Cora said. "A combination of [Weber] and Shawaryn. I don't want to say opener thing. We trust these guys, but most likely both of them are going to be part of it. We'll map it out." If Weber can't get deep into the game, expect to see Shawaryn make his MLB debut. He was called up last Friday and has yet to appear in a game. Because he was a starter in the minors, Shawaryn can give the Red Sox length if needed. The right-hander has posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a .230 batting average against over 10 starts for Triple-A Pawtucket before his promotion.

Leclerc struck out two over two scoreless innings in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Orioles.

Leclerc continues to pitch well since being removed from the closer's job. He's allowed three runs while striking out 28 over the last 15.1 innings. His performance Wednesday is remarkable as it followed a blown save by fill-in closer Shawn Kelley -- his second BS in his last five outings. There was a sense that Kelley's stint as a closer was temporary until Leclerc got himself right, and that stint may have run its course after Wednesday's game.

Colome (2-1) was tagged with the loss, giving up a walk and a walkoff home run without retiring a batter, in a non-save situation Wednesday against the Nationals.

Colome walked the first batter he faced on four pitches before Trea Turner turned on a four-seamer. The White Sox had tied the game in the eighth inning before turning it over to Colome in a tied game to begin the ninth. Chicago's closer is a perfect 12-for-12 in save situations.

Robles (3-0) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings to pick up the win against the Athletics on Wednesday. He surrendered one hit and one walk while striking out one.

The right-hander was called upon in the eighth inning after Ty Buttrey allowed two runs to tie the game. Robles threw a wild pitch that allowed Buttrey's runner on third to score, giving the A's a 9-8 lead. The 28-year-old then walked Khris Davis but got Stephen Piscotty to line out to end the inning. In the ninth, Robles allowed a leadoff double to Robbie Grossman but sent the next three batters down in order. Dustin Garneau took advantage in the bottom of the ninth with a walkoff double to score Brian Goodwin and lift the Angels to victory. Serving as the Angels' primary closer, Robles has seven saves with a 3.77 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 30 games.

Trivino (2-4) took the loss Wednesday at Angel Stadium, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one through one inning of work.

After Ryan Buchter walked in a run to tie the score 9-9, Trivino was called upon in the eighth with the bases loaded to get the final out. He sent Albert Pujols down swinging to end the inning, but unfortunately, he gave up a single to Brian Goodwin in the ninth. Goodwin then got into scoring position by stealing second, and Dustin Garneau took advantage with a walkoff double on a misplayed ball over Robbie Grossman's head. The 27-year-old now owns a 4.40 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 29 games.

Covey allowed two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk across five innings during a no-decision against the Nationals on Wednesday.

When he departed, the Nationals led 2-1, a lead they subsequently increased to three runs. However, the White Sox offense came back to tie the game, getting Covey off the hook. This is the first time all season Covey strung together consecutive serviceable starts, as he allowed a modest three runs over 11 frames in those two outings. Covey is 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 22 strikeouts across 37.1 innings this season. He will get another crack at the Nationals at home Tuesday.

Thornton allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings during Wednesday's 11-7 win over the Yankees. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Thornton only gave up a solo homer through the first four innings, but he allowed four hits and three runs in the fifth to bring an end to his evening. The 25-year-old has a 4.73 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 69:31 K:BB through 64.2 innings and lines up to pitch Tuesday at Baltimore.

McHugh (elbow) threw an 18-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McHugh was limited to throwing fastballs Wednesday, although his return to mound work is a major step in his recovery from right elbow discomfort. The 31-year-old remains without a firm timetable for his return, but he should continue ramping up the intensity in his throwing sessions.

Junis (4-6) gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out five through 4.2 innings to take the loss against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Junis appeared to settle down after allowing a pair of first-inning runs, but he ultimately surrendered four more runs in the top of the fifth. The right-hander continues to struggle with control, as he's allowed a 3.5 BB/9 this season while generating a 4-6 record and 5.63 ERA through 13 starts. Junis will make his next start Tuesday against the Tigers at Kauffman Stadium.

Stanek will serve as the opener Thursday against the Tigers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Stanek hasn't pitched since allowing one run on four hits over two innings when opening Friday's loss to the Twins. The 27-year-old has a 1.73 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across 26 innings in the opening role this season.
