  • Jorge Lopez RP | WAS

Royals' Jorge Lopez: To make Royals debut as starter

Lopez will be called up from Triple-A Omaha to start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Maria Torres of The Kansas City Star reports.

The Brewers scrapped developing Lopez as a starter midway through last season, but he was a consensus top-100 prospect in the game prior to the 2016 season, and when the Royals targeted him in the Mike Moustakas trade, they likely saw some untapped potential with him as a starter. There is not much recent data to go on with him working as a starter, but he tossed 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out seven in a start for Triple-A Omaha last week. Given Lopez's pedigree and that recent outing, he's an interesting player to monitor in deeper formats, as he'll be allowed to stick in the rotation if he has initial success. That said, there will be plenty of blow-up potential against a Blue Jays team that ranks eighth in the majors with a 108 wRC+ against right-handed pitching since June 1. A corresponding move will be made Wednesday. Burch Smith will move to the bullpen.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Secures 31st save

Chapman allowed one hit during a scoreless ninth inning to grab his 31st save of the season in Tuesday's win over the Rays. He recorded one strikeout and didn't walk a batter.

Chapman gave up a two-out single to Joey Wendle, but still needed only nine pitches to retire the side. The veteran left-hander had multiple strikeouts in his last six appearances prior to Tuesday. The 30-year-old is 31-for-33 in save opportunities and has a 2.11 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 84 strikeouts over 47 innings.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Secures another save

Kimbrel allowed a leadoff walk but recorded one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save Tuesday against the Phillies.

There was a bit less drama for Kimbrel this time around, but the tying run still moved into scoring position when Scott Kingery stole second base with two outs. The 30-year-old is now 36-for-40 in save opportunities this season with a 2.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 76 strikeouts across 50 innings.

  • Chris Devenski RP | NYM

Astros' Chris Devenski: Rehab assignment begins

Devenski (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday, Christian Boutwell of MLB.com reports.

Devenski is already eligible to return from his hamstring injury and his activation appears to be on the horizon. He's expected to throw one inning Tuesday and could make another rehab appearance Friday, though there's a chance he returns to Houston at that point, given the short length of his absence.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Rehab assignment begins

Fulmer (oblique) will begin his rehab assignment with High-A Lakeland on Tuesday.

Fulmer has been out since July 20 with a left oblique strain. If he needs just one rehab appearance, he'd be lined up to start Sunday in Minnesota. If he needs another, he'd likely appear in the minors that day and return to Detroit at the end of the following week. His timeline should become clearer following Tuesday's appearance.

  • Casey Lawrence RP | SEA

Mariners' Casey Lawrence: Optioned to Triple-A

Lawrence was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Lawrence spent five days with the Mariners, allowing three runs in three innings in his only appearance. His 8.31 ERA through 17.1 major-league innings suggests he's unlikely to be a fantasy asset if and when he returns to the big leagues. The move makes room for Robinson Cano's return from his suspension.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Works for 31st save

Treinen grabbed his 31st save in Monday's 7-6 win over the Mariners, allowing two hits and uncorking a wild pitch but also striking out the side in the ninth inning. He was not charged with any runs.

The closer earned his keep Monday, working up to 20 pitches in the ninth before finally slamming the door on a pesky Seattle squad. Treinen got the call in a bases-loaded, no-out jam that he inherited from Jeurys Familia, and he ultimately allowed all three inherited runners to score after striking out the pinch-hitting Chris Herrmann to begin his outing. However, Treinen was able to eventually record swinging strikeouts of Cameron Maybin and Nelson Cruz around a Jean Segura infield single to nail down the one-run victory. Treinen managed to lower his ERA to a sparkling 0.90, and he's now converted seven consecutive save chances dating back to July 24.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Rebounds with quality start

Manaea (11-8) allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks over 7.2 innings in the Athletics' 7-6 win over the Mariners on Monday. He struck out three.

The lefty cruised through his nearly eight innings of work on just 89 pitches, looking exponentially sharper than in a 2.2-inning stint against the Dodgers just six days prior -- a start where he'd thrown just 12 less pitches in five fewer innings. Manaea has now generated four quality starts in his last six trips to the mound, going 3-0 with one no-decision in those outings. He's also just one win away from equaling the career high he established last season, a victory he'll look to garner against the Astros in a scheduled turn next Saturday.

  • Jose Leclerc RP | SD

Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Closes out Diamondbacks

Leclerc picked up his second save, striking out two over a scoreless inning in Monday's 5-3 win over Arizona.

Leclerc has picked up the Rangers' last two saves and has moved to the head of the closer committee in Texas. Over his last seven games, Leclerc has three holds and two saves while not allowing a run in seven innings.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Surrenders four in no-decision

Lopez allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out two over five innings Monday as he didn't factor into the decision against the Tigers.

Lopez tossed two scoreless frames to begin the ballgame, but he was tagged for a run in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth prior to being lifted with a one-run deficit. The 24-year-old had looked sharp in his previous two outings leading up to Monday's performance, as he'd given up just three runs while punching out 10 over 14 innings, so he didn't appear to have his best stuff in the series opener. Lopez heads into his next appearance owning a 4.40 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 98 strikeouts through 141 innings.
