  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Chris Martin: Responds well to bullpen session

Martin (groin) had no issues after throwing a bullpen session Monday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The next step is to have Martin toss live batting practice Thursday. If the right-hander comes out of that without incident, Martin could start a rehabilitation assignment Sunday. He's been out since July 5.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Saddled with loss Tuesday

Diaz (0-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing an unearned run on two hits while striking out two in one inning against the Giants.

Diaz was tasked with protecting a tie game to start the top of the ninth, but after allowing the game-winning run to get to second with two outs, he allowed the decisive run to score on an infield single and subsequent error by Dee Gordon. It marked the first time he's allowed a run in 11 outings -- a string of appearances that goes back over a month -- so Tuesday's loss shouldn't be any cause for concern.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Notches 25th save of year

Treinen struck out one in a clean 10th inning Tuesday to secure the save against the Rangers.

Treinen entered the game in the 10th with a three-run lead and shut down the Rangers to earn his 25th save of the year. Treinen had blown two of his last three save chances recently but was back in form in Tuesday's outing. He sports a superb 1.06 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while holding opponents to a .169 batting average. The right-hander also carries a 65:18 K:BB in 51 innings and is 25-for-29 in save opportunities this year.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Struggles in return from DL

Pomeranz (1-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings against the Orioles. He struck out four and walked two.

Pomeranz threw 56 of 89 pitches for strikes and threw a first-pitch strike to only 10 of 22 batters faced. The 29-year-old's first major-league start since late May did not go as planned, and he now has a 6.91 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across 41.2 innings heading into his next expected start against the Twins on Sunday.

  • Dillon Tate RP | TOR

Orioles' Dillon Tate: Headliner in Britton deal

Tate was traded from the Yankees to the Orioles along with Josh Rogers and Cody Carroll in exchange for Zach Britton on Tuesday.

He is the headliner in the package, although his prospect star has faded quite a bit since the Rangers selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 draft. Pitching prospects with that type of pedigree typically don't get traded twice before they reach Triple-A (he was dealt to New York in 2016 as the headliner in the deal that sent Carlos Beltran to Texas) if their outlook is particularly promising. He still has a slight chance to reach a high ceiling -- he will flash several plus pitches -- but he is more likely to make it as a No. 3 or No. 4 starter, or perhaps a late-inning reliever. Tate has now logged 107.2 innings at Double-A, working there with a 3.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 82.2 innings this season. This trade works in Tate's favor, as he would have faced stiffer competition for a rotation spot with the Yankees, and should be given a long leash with Baltimore. He has been assigned to Double-A Bowie, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

  • Ryan Borucki RP | SF

Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Tough-luck loser against Twins

Borucki (0-2) gave up two runs (zero earned) on six hits and zero walks while striking out two in six innings Tuesday against the Twins. He took the loss.

He has now received 10 runs of support over his five big-league starts, with eight of those coming in a lone outing (July 13 at Boston), so his teammates haven't been doing him any favors at the plate. With Marco Estrada (hip) leaving a rehab start with a blister Tuesday, it seems likely that Borucki will get at least one more turn in the big-league rotation -- either Sunday against the White Sox or Monday against the A's.

  • Yankees' Giovanny Gallegos: Returns to Triple-A

Gallegos was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Gallegos was promoted from the RailRiders on Sunday but did not make an appearance during the brief stint in the majors. The 26-year-old returns to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he has a 3.55 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 25.1 innings this season.

  • Dillon Tate RP | TOR

Yankees' Dillon Tate: Scratched Tuesday with trade looming

Tate was a healthy scratch from Tuesday's game with Double-A Trenton, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Tate appears to be the centerpiece prospect for the Yankees to acquire Zach Britton from the Orioles, and the team wasn't going to risk him starting Tuesday as trade talks progress. Nothing is official at this point but the two sides seem to be closing in on an agreement.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Needs Tommy John surgery

Graveman will undergo Tommy John surgery, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

He has not pitched since May 24, but since he won't be having the surgery until now, Graveman will likely miss the entire 2019 season. The 27-year-old righty has a 4.38 ERA in 446 MLB innings, but turned in a career-worst 7.60 ERA in seven starts for the big-league club this season before suffering the injury.

  • Hunter Harvey RP | CHC

Orioles' Hunter Harvey: Game work in near future

Harvey (shoulder) is close to returning to game action, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

While he is listed as active at Double-A Bowie, Harvey has not pitched in a game since June 1 due to a shoulder injury. It would be a big accomplishment for the oft-injured righty to return in short order and stay healthy through the final five weeks of the minor-league season. He has a 5.57 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 32.1 innings this season at Double-A.
