Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Activated, starting Tuesday
Pomeranz (biceps) was activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of Tuesday's start against the Orioles, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
He missed almost two months with the biceps injury, and will make his return to the rotation after making four minor-league rehab appearances. In his latest outing, he gave up one run on one hit and two walks while striking out five over six innings for Triple-A Pawtucket, building up his pitch count to 69 (45 strikes). He probably won't get to 100 pitches in his first start back, but could go deep enough to qualify for the win.

Tim Mayza RP | PHI
Blue Jays' Tim Mayza: Sent back down
Mayza was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
He spent a couple weeks with the big club during this most recent stint, but will make way with starter Ryan Borucki rejoining Toronto. The lefty reliever has a 4.67 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 18 strikeouts in 17.1 innings this season.

Ryan Borucki RP | SF
Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Recalled from Triple-A
Borucki was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in advance of Tuesday's start against the Twins.
The 24-year-old southpaw has a 3.52 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 23 innings (four starts) with the big club. He has proven that he can be competent at times, but was never seen as a guy with high-end stuff in the minors, and his xFIP (4.13) along with most projections systems are predicting negative regression going forward. Marco Estrada (hip) may be able to return to the rotation this weekend, so this could end up being a spot start for Borucki.

Matt Andriese RP | MIA
Rays' Matt Andriese: Secures third win
Andriese (3-4) allowed two unearned runs on three hits over 3.2 innings in a win over the Yankees on Monday. He struck out five.
Andriese continues to be utilized in a variety of roles and at different points within games. The 28-year-old followed opener Hunter Wood on Monday and bounced back from a pair of outings in which he'd allowed a combined six earned runs over four innings against the Tigers and Twins. Andriese's inconsistency is reflected to an extent in his 4.07 ERA, although he does offer solid strikeout upside. The right-hander sports a 59:18 K:BB over 59.2 innings this season, leading to a career-best 8.9 K/9.

Carson Fulmer RP | PIT
White Sox's Carson Fulmer: Moves to bullpen at Triple-A
Fulmer has been removed from the rotation at Triple-A Charlotte and is now pitching out of the bullpen, Doug Padilla of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Fulmer opened the season in the White Sox's rotation before he was sent back to Charlotte under the weight of an 8.07 ERA in eight major-league starts. His fortunes didn't improve much with the move to Triple-A, where he was 3-5 with a 5.80 ERA and 32 walks over 45 innings as a starter. Since his move to the bullpen, Fulmer has allowed two runs in five appearances, spanning 6.1 innings. With top pitching prospect Michael Kopech getting closer to the majors and several other starting prospects in the pipeline, Fulmer's transition to reliever may be a permanent move.

Jaime Barria RP | CLE
Angels' Jaime Barria: Allows four earned runs
Barria (5-7) allowed four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two across five innings to take the loss Monday against the White Sox.
Barria exited the game in the sixth inning having allowed two earned runs, though both of the batters he walked to lead off the inning ultimately came around around to score. Barria has seen his ERA rise from 2.48 to 3.80 in seven starts since June 12, and in that span, he's allowed eight home runs and 13 walks across 34.2 innings.
-
Jose Alvarado RP | PHI
Rays' Jose Alvarado: Notches fourth save
Alvarado allowed no runs on one hit and two walks across 1.1 innings as he picked up the save Monday against the Yankees.
Alvarado was called upon for the four-out save, and he managed to deliver after allowing three runners to reach base. He sits with 19 holds on the season and a stellar 2.43 ERA with 43 strikeouts over 40.2 innings as he figures to continue to be utilized in mid-to-high leverage situations moving forward.
-
Luis Santos RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Luis Santos: Fans three in bullpen game
Santos (0-1) surrendered one run on three hits and one walk while striking out three across two innings as he was saddled with the loss Monday against Minnesota.
Santos was pulled after two innings, as Toronto elected to approach the series opener as a bullpen game. He allowed a run in the first inning on a triple. After making his first start of the 2018 campaign, Santos sits with an alarming 7.20 ERA and 1.90 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 10 innings. He figures to be used in a bullpen role moving forward.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Continues to rack up saves
Kimbrel allowed one run on two hits in the ninth inning Monday against Baltimore, although he managed to pick up the save.
Kimbrel entered the game with a three-run lead, and after surrendering one run, he managed to slam the door for his 32nd save of the year. Prior to Monday's contest, he hadn't given up a run in 12 straight outings. Kimbrel remains one of the best closers in the game moving forward.

Brandon Maurer RP | KC
Royals' Brandon Maurer: Blows save chance
Maurer allowed three earned runs on three hits to blow the save Monday against the Tigers.
Maurer got his fifth save opportunity of the season with Wily Peralta unavailable after he appeared in each of the Royals' past three games. However, he blew the chance by allowing three consecutive hits -- two doubles and a single -- with the final earned run crossing the plate after he was pulled from the game. He has now blown four of his five save opportunities this season, posting a horrific 14.25 ERA and 3.00 WHIP in the process.
