  • Twins' Fernando Rodney: Converts 19th save

Rodney struck out one and allowed one run on two hits but still secured his 19th save in Saturday's 5-4 win over Baltimore.

Thankfully the Twins entered the ninth inning with a two-run cushion, as Jonathan Schoop -- who advanced to second base on fielder's indifference -- scored when Rodney allowed a two-out double to Jace Peterson. The 41-year-old has converted 19 of 24 save opportunities this season and has a 3.16 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts over 31.1 innings.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Dealing with knee issue, not arm injury

Contrary to previous reports, the injury that forced Chapman to leave Saturday's game against the Blue Jays had nothing to do with his arm but was instead a flare-up of the left knee tendinitis he has been battling in recent weeks, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.

It remains a concern that Chapman had to leave the game, but the situation doesn't appear nearly as dire as it could have if he were dealing with an arm injury. It sounds as though Chapman could have remained in the game, but manager Aaron Boone decided it wasn't worth leaving him in with the Yankees leading by four. It's not yet clear whether Chapman will need time on the disabled list or just a day or two to rest his knee.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Leaves with apparent arm injury

Chapman exited Saturday's game against the Blue Jays with an apparent arm injury, Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News reports.

The nature and severity of the injury are not yet clear, but Chapman was seen favoring the arm as he left the game.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Needs another rehab start

Mengden (foot) will need at least one more rehab start before returning to Oakland, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Mengden reached 66 pitches in his first rehab appearance, but the team will likely want him to increase that pitch count before activating him from the disabled list. The additional rehab start means he won't be able to return to action until after the All-Star break.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: May not return in 2018

Norris (groin) has resumed throwing after a minor setback but may not return to the majors before the end of the year, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports

The Tigers aren't counting on Norris returning, but manager Ron Gardenhire said, "That doesn't mean it can't happen. He's got plenty of time." Norris will have to prove not only his health but also his effectiveness, as he's recorded a 5.87 ERA in 15.1 innings this season after struggling to a 5.31 ERA last year.

  • Yankees' Jonathan Loaisiga: Battling shoulder injury

Loaisiga is dealing with right shoulder inflammation, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Loaisiga was optioned earlier in the week but was expected to return to start one half of Monday's doubleheader against the Orioles. Luis Cessa will be called upon instead. Loaisiga will see Dr. Chris Ahmad in New York on Monday to determine the extent of his injury.

  • Nick Rumbelow RP | SEA

Mariners' Nick Rumbelow: Sent down to Triple-A

Rumbelow was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.

Rumbelow tossed 7.1 innings of relief for Seattle this season, recording a mediocre 4.91 ERA. Outfielder John Andreoli was called up to take his place on the roster.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Goal to improve mechanics Saturday

Pomeranz (biceps) will be looking to improve his mechanics when he makes his second rehabilitation start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Pomeranz was rocked his last time out, giving up five runs and four home runs in 2.2 innings in his first rehab start. "He was off mechanic-wise," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. "He felt fine afterward. Actually, he faced some good competition...But it was more about mechanics. His arm wasn't getting where he wanted as far as the breaking ball and also the fastball." The left-hander threw 56 pitches in his first rehab start and will likely bump that up to 70-75 pitch range. As important as pitch count will be getting up and down more times. The Red Sox are targeting four innings out of Pomeranz on Saturday.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Impressive in first rehab appearance

Mengden (foot) was credited with a victory in Triple-A Nashville's win over Iowa on Friday, allowing an unearned run on two hits over 3.2 innings. He struck out five.

Mengden worked up to 66 pitches and missed plenty of bats in what was an encouraging first rehab appearance. The right-hander was the second pitcher on the hill for the Sounds after starter Raul Alcantara worked a trio of scoreless frames. The Athletics should have a better feel for their plan of action with Mengden Saturday, after they gauge how the pitcher's foot tolerated the fairly robust workload.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Can't find plate in loss to Astros

Lopez (4-6) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on six hits and five walks over 4.2 innings while striking out three as the White Sox were stomped 11-4 by the Astros.

The right-hander threw just 53 of 97 pitches for strikes and started out only 11 of the 24 batters he faced with first-pitch strikes, but Lopez was able to escape with fairly minimal damage, all things considered. Control remains a problem for the 24-year-old, who's walked at least three batters in six of his last nine starts while posting a 37:24 K:BB in 50.2 innings over that stretch. Despite his erratic recent form, Lopez will take a 3.77 ERA into his next outing Friday at home against the Royals.
