  • Louis Coleman RP | DET

Tigers' Louis Coleman: Promoted from Triple-A

Coleman was called up from Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.

In order to make room for Coleman on the 40-man roster, the club designated Chad Bell for assignment. Coleman has appeared in 13 games for Toledo in 2018, posting a 2.40 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with a 15:5 K:BB over 15 innings of relief. He will serve out of low-leverage situations while with the Tigers.

  • Liam Hendriks RP | CHC

Athletics' Liam Hendriks: Nearing mound work

Hendriks (groin) will throw off the mound next week, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Hendriks will get back on the mound for the first time since hitting the DL on April 14 with a groin strain. The right-hander resumed throwing a week after his injury, but he required a procedure to remove a cyst from his hip near the end of April. There still isn't a concrete timetable for his return, but an activation once the Athletics return home May 22 seems to be a reasonable date.

  • Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS

Yankees' Tommy Kahnle: Heads to Tampa

Kahnle (shoulder) will travel to Tampa on Sunday and could return to the Yankees for the series in Texas beginning May 21, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Kahnle continues to gradually work his way back into game shape, recently throwing a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday during his first time back on a mound since suffering a shoulder injury in April. It's expected that Kahnle will appear in a couple rehab outings before his return to the majors.

  • Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY

Rays' Ryan Yarbrough: Getting another start Monday

Yarbrough will receive his third start of the season Monday against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Rays manager Kevin Cash hasn't formally appointed Yarbrough to the rotation since Yonny Chirinos (forearm) was shut down earlier this month, but at least for the time being, it appears likely that the lefty is the leading candidate to garner spot starts when a fourth starter is needed. Yarbrough has covered five innings both of the past two times he has taken the hill, giving up five runs but posting an 11:0 K:BB over that span. He's someone to keep an eye on in AL-only formats and deeper mixed leagues while he's seeing consistent innings.

  • Anthony Banda RP | MIN

Rays' Anthony Banda: Won't pick up doubleheader start

Banda won't start either game of the Rays' doubleheader with the Orioles on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Per Topkin, the Rays still intend to recall Banda from Triple-A Durham to serve as their 26th man for the twin bill, but the lefty won't start Game 2 as initially anticipated. Instead, long reliever Matt Andriese will pick up a spot start as part of a bullpen game, during which Banda is still expected to see multiple innings in relief. It's likely that Banda will be optioned back to Durham following the doubleheader.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Grabs four-out save Friday

Treinen allowed one hit and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 10-5 win over the Yankees.

It's the eighth time in 11 appearances that Treinen has worked more than one inning, and four of his six saves have come in such circumstances. The 29-year-old's 1.04 ERA is at odds with his 1.38 WHIP, but his 20:6 K:BB in 17.1 innings remains strong in his first full season as a closer.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Nabs win in Friday's return

Graveman (1-5) picked up the win over the Yankees on Friday, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over six innings while striking out four.

The right-hander served up two homers to account for all four runs, but Graveman got more than enough run support in a 10-5 victory to make him a winner in his return to the rotation. He still has a 7.60 ERA, however, and things won't get any easier for him in his next start Wednesday on the road against the Red Sox.

  • Twins' Fernando Rodney: Picks up sixth save of season

Rodney got the save against the Angels on Friday, giving up one hit without a walk or a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning to close out the Twins' 5-4 victory.

It was the sixth save of the year for the veteran and his third straight appearance in which he has managed to close out a game with a drama-free effort. Rodney does have three blown saves to his name already this season, but his strong pitching of late should give him a firm grasp on the closer role in Minnesota, at least for the time being.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Starting second game of Saturday twin bill

Andriese will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The versatile right-hander most recently pitched a pair of perfect frames against the Braves on Wednesday, throwing a modest 26 pitches. Andriese has started one prior game this season, with his other 10 appearances coming out of the bullpen. He should be able to work through at least five innings Saturday provided he doesn't run into trouble, considering he's logged 45 career starts over his three-plus major-league seasons.

  • Carson Fulmer RP | PIT

White Sox's Carson Fulmer: Predictable result against Cubs

Fulmer (2-3) took the loss against the Cubs on Friday, allowing five runs on three hits and four walks while striking out three over 1.2 innings.

It was more of the same for Fulmer -- he gave up a grand slam to Willson Contreras and has now given up eight long balls in 30.1 innings this season. He's compounded those issues with walks, issuing 19 free passes. The 24-year-old now has a 6.23 ERA and 1.75 WHIP, and while manager Rick Renteria told James Fegan of The Athletic Chicago after the game that Fulmer will make his next start in Pittsburgh, it may only be a matter of weeks before Fulmer is replaced in the rotation by top prospect Michael Kopech.
